I have barely begun to enjoy my new premium cluster and found this https://youtu.be/Mu-sYzr1DkQ I think it will be interesting to see the final product and price point. Sorry if this has been discussed already!
Agreed! My swap will finally be complete next week when my new ABS module gets here and I just saw this a few days ago! I like it but I don’t be scrapping all my work to have a screen as a cluster anytime soon
So I discovered something y’all. The used ABS module was the problem and getting a new one solved it. BUT after I programmed the new one I used IDS to try and program the old one again but this time leaving the new module plugged in until IDS told me to swap them out. Then my used module worked perfectly. SO for the abs swap, you don’t necessarily need to install a brand new module, BUT you do need one to program it. Anyway, other than the shifter swap which should happened this weekend, this swap is complete and I love it!
If you are putting the cluster in a 2011/12, then you will need to do some wiring to get the steering wheel switch to work.
First, disconnect the message center buttons on the headlight switch module. Just disconnect it from the back. It will no longer be used. You may want to get the 2013 headlight switch module which blanks out the message center buttons.
Then, you will need to tap into 2 wires coming out the connector from the back of the cluster.
The connector is C220, and you want to find the wire coming out of pin #6. It is a green wire with a purple stripe. Tap into this wire.
Run that wire to the clockspring in the steering wheel. On the dashboard side, there is a connector (C2274A). You will want to insert the wire you ran from the tap into slot number 3 in the connector (These slots are numbered on the connector). The slot will be empty, so you will have to insert a pin in there. I had an old dash harness that I used to source the proper pins that I needed. You may need to go to an electronics store or electronic repair shop to get the pins you need.
On the steering wheel side of the clockspring, on connector C2274B, you will insert a pin (just as you did on the other side) into slot #6.
Run a wire from pin #6 on C2274B all the way to the connector that plugs into the left steering wheel switch (C2998). You will insert a pin into slot #2 of connector C2998. Again, you will need to source a pin.
That was the message signal wire. Now you need to do the message return wire.
Go back to C220 on the cluster. Find the wire coming from pin #4. It is a white wire with brown stripe. Tap into it.
Run the wire from the tap to C2274A on the clockspring (dashboard side). Plug into slot #11.
On the steering wheel side, run a wire from slot #12 on connector C2274B to the steering wheel switch connector C2998. Plug into slot #3.
Message center button should now work.
Cruise Control
Finally, on connector C2998, you will remove the pin (don't cut the wire) in slot #2 will now go into slot #1. This is for cruise. It will not make cruise work right, but you need to do this for when your PCM gets flashed into a 2013.
If you are using the Black Box from Redline Tuning, then the buttons on the cruise control will be messed up. You will take the switch, take it apart and take the circuit board to an electronics guy to change the resistors as shown in the pic below.
If you have the resistors changed as below, then the cruise buttons will work as follows:
Cncl/Rsm - is now 'on'
On/Off - is now 'off'
-set - is the same
+set - is the same
I seen a post were a guy used a 2014 steering wheel with the buttons already in it and he said he wasnt able to do the wire mod with the wire to clock spring so would that work better? To get the cruise and switches to work on a 2011 GT seen a whole 2014 steering wheel on ebay for like $130

Should start a separate thread on this.
Keep this one for questions on the retrofit. But certainly interesting.
Can't you just use the free tool for scan to do this yourself my buddy did this with it just had to buy the cluster with correct mileage and buttons for the steering wheel so he says I'm wanting to do this on my 2012 gt premium track pack I have the mycolor and all that stuff already just want the bigger display and track apps for my track pack. Any advice or help would be great.
2012 mustang gt premium brembos 3.73 help using forscan to setup my cluster
I've had this cluster swapped in for awhile now gave up on it honestly i put a 14 abs module in no luck tried another no luck i cannot get the track apps or gauges working for the life of me can anyone ten me how to do this with forscan I've seen millions of posts with ids and vms but none with forscan my car is the 12 gt premium mt82 trans 3.73 rear gears ill attach my Window sticker to this so yal can see my options and help me out here im going nuts i haven't even wired up the controls bc I got so aggravated about this not working thanks in advance for any help guys yal are awesome
Hello to everyone on this thread. I’m hoping one of you will see this and help me. I’m retrofitting selectshift into my 2012 GT. The shifter and needed wiring to the pcm are installed. The pcm has been flashed to a 2014 and the 2014 cluster and steering wheel switch pod are installed. PATS is done so the car runs. Now for the problem. I have abs, traction control, parking brake lights on along with Service Advancetrac message. I have a used 2014 abs module installed and FORscan says there is no communication with the abs module and shows the U0102 error code. I’ve read here that a new module is needed in order to program it correctly. My understanding is that new modules are shipped vin specific so how does this work? I think the pcm and abs modules have to have the same vin data in order for this to work. I do not have VCM and IDS.
Thanks for helping.
So how do I get a brand new abs module that doesn’t have a vin programmed into it? All the parts places I’ve contacted say they are indefinitely on back order.
But they Do Offer a Rebuild Service So Might See About That Option Then Get a Used One To Send in If They offer For That Part. Don't Know if it Applies to Your Part!
Another issue I came across when installing 2013 premium cluster into 2010 premium car is that I have OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message every time I start the car. Oil life reset doesn't help.
The thing is that I did not put any additional wires from light switch to cluster (C220), I have connected light switch directly to clockspring switch on the wheel from the cluster side. Can it be the reason? Please help
Hello everyone. I have been wanting to get select shift in my 2011. Is the cluster required for the select shift to work?
I have a shifter out of a 2014 mustang
I got a PCM out of a 2014 mustang that had all the same options as my 2011
My general idea was swap the PCM (So if I brick it I can at least fall back to the old one)
I have the shifter wired and wires going to the PCM already, just need to make the actual swaps.
But will the car not work if the 13/14 cluster isn't installed? That's a whole mess of modification parts I was hoping to avoid for the time being. I was kind of hoping the PCM and shifter would be a more or less simple swap (minus running wires, pinning, transmission cable, etc.)
