Rear view camera?

Just installed a new Alpine HU and want to install a rear view camera. With all the cheap options out there, I was wondering what cameras are you guys using with aftermarket HUs?

i followed EvilCartmens post and put the same camera he installed and its nice!

http://www.evilcartman.com/lockpick-...a-install.html

I do have a factory oem camera spoiler on my car that i originally had wired up to an LCD backup mirror and thats what I originally installed and wired up but without an insulated video wire the alpine i recently installed just saw too much distortion/noise and would flicker too much and just wouldnt give me a good picture like the way the rear view mirror did.

I think with the alpine setup it just required a much cleaner signal than what I was giving it, so after I installed the aftermarket camera (exact one from the link posted) it shows up crystal clear.

no pic of camera in action but heres my headunit

nice setup. Do yo have any problem with fogging? That's the main complain I have read with most cameras. By any chance do you have any pics of it mounted?

heres a pic from EvilCartman's page of his car with camera installed.

heres a crappy quality pic of mine.

as for fogging, well, i havent experienced that with it yet because i havent driven the car much... With condensation being real bad in the mornings sometimes, even my oem camera spoiler used to get that when i used to use that one.

@berzerk_1980 - its a custom made bezel i pieced together, with a writeup explaining everything on the forum too. If i get to go with an alpine perfect fit 9" setup, ill be selling this one.

TJ, did all the items (camera, lockpick, wiring) all come together in a kit? Looks like I've got the same setup as Cartman's with the Navigation Sync System. Been looking at adding the backup camera but haven't seen anything I like til now. That's a pretty slick setup.

Agraulis,

mine is an aftermarket setup - the alpine unit with the camera that Cartman's page has listed. So for my setup I didnt need lockpick or anything because I dont have the factory oem navigation setup.

I think when it comes to adding the camera you can just get the aftermarket camera and lockpick kit (which are separate) and everything should be pretty straight forward.

Boyo VTB123HD not working when cold

Just did the Lockpick install with Boyo VTB123HD rear cam and a Boyo Front cam. Everything initially worked great in the heated garage. But after being outside overnight in about 28degF temperature, the rear cam takes a very long time to start working (like 30 seconds to a minute). Front cam works great. Brought it back inside the heated garage and let it warm up, and it now works great again (ARG!!!)...

Anyone have any issue with the Boyo VTB123HD operating when cold?

Update: Just got a replacement camera and it's working fine. Tested in the freezer before install and it was still working great at 0degF. Put the original one in the freezer after removing it and it stopped working normally below apx 30degF and wouldn't turn on at all at 0degF. Anyway, all set now... system working great
