Raxiom Navigation w/ Bluetooth & Back-up Camera (10-14)
#102
I'm sure it will work, but it's designed to use the factory USB, Bluetooth mic, and steering controls. It's meant to be a plug and play design so the SYNC equipped cars don't lose those functions. Makes a lot if sense, I'd be pissed to spend over 2k and have to reroute new wires for steering controls, mic, and USB. Cuz my factory ones will be dead.

With my tax return on the way I've been eyeing this setup. I like that it's made specially for our cars and that the installation "seems" easy enough. How's everyone feel about it???
Also curious how/where you would run the back-up camera line(s)?

I just pulled the trigger right now and ordered it. Now I'm just brainstorming on where I'm gonna put the GPS antenna, I think I'm gonna put it somewhere on the rear deck, I figure that's a subtle spot with a good view of the sky. O and don't forget, to get your SAT radio ID b4 u do anything, I heard u can't do it after the install, I read this in the reviews on AM, sorry its choppy looking but I needed a reminder for me to do this.

I was planning on putting the GPS antenna in the back window on the deck too as I have limo tint in back so no one will see if from the outside, and most please wont even see it on the inside. How do I get the SAT radio ID? I dont have XM Radio anymore (I refuse to pay for radio) but it will still be good info to have if I ever want to get it back. I installed my Raxiom Nav system yesterday and so far I love it! I didn't do a write up or take pics because there are plenty of those out there.
The install was a more of a pita than I thought it would be, I somehow got the old instructions. I recommend checking the instructions on AM's website and make sure you have the latest revision before installing.
The stock radio unit is very difficult to take out because the radio antenna is extremely short. The instructions DO mention this and it's certainly not Raxiom's fault, that's on Ford. The antenna is on the bottom right as you are facing the dash. It was very difficult for me to get my hand in there and get a grip on it. You have to pull it pretty hard to unplug it. The other plugs have release clips you have to feel around for. Re-installing it is much easier because of the new cable. You still have to deal with that pesky antenna cable but it's easier to plug than unplug.
Oh also I killed my battery playing with the Nav system in my garage with the car off, lol. Maybe I just need a new battery but it seems to be a drain on the battery so be careful of that.
There are a LOT of options with this system and it can warn you of a ton of situations which I love. I've already changed the background and you can also change the highlight color. I love the way the AM/FM and Satellite screens show you your presets. With the factory system you had to remember which buttons were which stations. Now it shows you the stations on the screen, very nice. I wish the Phone screen showed a little more, like your contacts list. You can search through recent calls or dial a number but that's a little tedious, especially when driving. If they had contacts on the phone screen similar to the radio presets it would be a huge improvement IMO.
Overall I love it. It's a great value and looks great IMO.
Edit: Just looked at the web site. There are new instructions there that are supposed to be coming with all new systems. Mine apparently had the old instructions for whatever reason.

I installed mine as well, it's clean and makes the car feel more modern. One of my favorite things of it is that on the AUX mode, there's a source option, and now u have a physical option of switching between "Bluetooth audio" "Line in" and "USB" without being forced to ask SYNC by voice. I used to feel like a total tool when I had a passenger in the car and had to tell SYNC which one I want, I always had to explain to them that there's was no way of switching manually.
