Question about seat cover swap

I just bought a set of take-off 2012 Saddle leather seat covers (my current covers are Stone leather) - for a 2013. So to use them I need to replace my adjustable headrests with 2012s. Bit of a bummer.

My question is, does anyone know if OEM 2012 covers will fit the TMI adjustable headrests sold by American Muscle:

TMI headrests

They're described as larger than the originals, but I can't tell from the images how significant the difference is.

Assuming I have to go with original non-adjustable 2012 headrests, what are these like as far as comfort compared to the adjustable 2013-14s? I leave my current ones in the default position now and they're fine.

Thanks for any experience you have to share.

Later model 2012's had adjustable Headrests also ... you positive your covers are for non adjustable head rests?

My car came with Adjustable Head-rests (Dec 2011 Build date) and the Stone CLoth I swapped in were from a 2011 .. so I had to get 2011 headrests.

Won't be positive until the covers arrive, but the photo doesn't look like it.

Do you miss the adjustables at all? As I said, I never really change from the default and I don't know whether there's a real difference between that and the position of the static ones.

Don't miss adjustable at all. Actually I was not happy Ford changed them ... the non-adjstable headrest is much sportier looking ... the adjustable headrests look out of place in a Mustang.

PS .. I had saw some Saddle Door panels on eBay not long ago .. not sure if still there.

I don't see anything right now but I'll keep my eye out (the inserts on ebay, I mean). I was surprised earlier today to see the take-offs and grabbed them.

Another question about the inserts, for those who've swapped them out - how difficult are they to remove and replace? I've read conflicting things on different forums - everything from "they're just glued in place and come off easily" to "they're fused with plastic tabs and have to be ground out from behind."

You need the entire door panel ... the insert is not swappable.

I wonder if an upholstery shop could die the Stone door panel inserts to match the seats. I bet they could...

Nice job on the Change out. I love the saddle. It was my first choice but I wanted the 401 interior and it was not available. Where did you get the covers? Did you do the swap? If so how hard was it?

Possibly, but for the moment - and perhaps weirdly - I'm kind of digging the two-toned thing. The stone color is warm enough that sitting in the car it doesn't really clash with the saddle, and I think I like the stone-colored plastic fittings (seat back levers, headrest buttons, etc.) better than the black that apparently come with saddle seats from the factory.

So, I'm content to keep my eye out for a real good-to-perfect way somewhere down the line about how to replace the panels rather than try to solve it right now.

Got the covers on eBay. I also had to buy 2011 headrests from Auto Nation/Tousley. I didn't do the swap - I'm a total klutz and have broken way too many things beyond repair while doing "simple fixes" (my triumph recently was replacing the car's decaying radio faceplate with acrylic myself and actually having it come out okay...baby steps...). An upholstery guy who'd done a real good job replacing the convertible top on my girlfriend's M3 did it. He also rebuilt the foam on the driver's seat, which had crushed way down already, and reinforced and added a little padding to the seat and back. Cost way too much, and we shall not speak of it - but I love the result. LOL

I came up with a set of inner door panels with the saddle inserts on eBay, but the driver's side armrest is separating.

Thanks.

I looked at the new door skins again last night and they really just need some cleaning up. Heck, if the little imperfections I was going all OCD about bother me later I can change again.
