I think I have a Shaker 500 with a CD player. (Pic attached) and no touch screen
Would this be considered an OEM head unit swap or is this an aftermarket unit?
All the sellers are from China and Im not sure they understand my questions. If its an OEM replacment then Ive read the stock Amp I have wont work with it?
They say its plug and play. has anyone here done the Ebay Head Unit Swap? Do they have a USB slot for flash drives? Better sound than what I have?

yes you have the OEM radio; looks like Shaker 500 with CD player which was standard ~2011-2013 (I can't tell if it is Shaker 500 or 1000, the difference is the 1000 has sub-woofer in the trunk)

Personally I would not trust any no-name made-in-China "ebay head unit" to be better than the original; I would assume that it is worse, probably much worse . . . if you ask a question that they want to answer, they will understand the question; if they don't want to answer, then they don't understand the question or they give an irrelevant answer

what is wrong with your stereo; why do you want to change the head unit?

 

I just bought the car. Its in excellent condition with only 30k mile but the stereo just sounds muddy and sad. Also the screen on the head unit is scratched up and I thought the GPS head unit might be an upgrade in sound too. I read it connected with bluetooth better and also had USB ports for flash drives..... Unless Im blind, I cant see a USB port anywhere on the Shaker 500.

 

the USB port is in the center console -- see the manual, there are probably other features you haven't seen yet

for clearer sound, you probably just need better speakers . . . there are some threads on here about that

 

Thanks Bert, I already ordered some better speakers and hoping for the best . The USB is not there because apparently the center console was changed to a basic :-/

If you have the Shaker then there are USB ports behind the glove box. USB2 is a Mini USB

Here is a Thread to put a 2nd USB and hard drive in.

 

Like behind the glovebox literally or up in the dash somewhere above it?

You collapse the side in on the glovebox a little and it lets it open more. It is literally behind it.
