Hello. I'd like to swap out my shaker 500 head unit.

I added the Ipod adapter to the head unit that supposedly displays the song name and artist on the display window. piece of garbage. $150 down the toilet. Takes two lifetimes to scroll through the ipod to the song you want.

I use my ipod constantly and is the only audio source i use in the car.

I'd like to remove the head unit to allow for perfect ipod use. I'd like it to be a double din unit with a screen to play dvd's and such.

I want to keep and use the factory shaker system including the subs and speaker setup.

I don't want to add subs or change the speakers.

I'd really like to avoid that sub pop issue that everyone brings up. I really have no idea how to hook up a diode and would prefer not to try to learn how to solder. (old hands. not so steady anymore) I've read that some head units don't cause this problem.

GPS navigation while nice isn't necessary. My iphone with tomtom works just fine.

I have five mouths to feed so dollars are an issue.

What is the best recommendation? Thanks so much!

Check out the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH. I own one and recommend it. $380 on amazon without the $10 bypass, the $80 oem adapter harness and the $40 ipod cables.

total ~$500 without install.
