Does a OEM Shaker replace require "programming"?

My head unit seems to be going out on me and I have my eye on a Ebay replacement.

Can anyone confirm if it's a simple swap out and good to go, or is there some security etc setting that requires the replacement unit to be unlocked or programmed at a dealer??

2012 GT Premium Shaker with Sync, no NAV.

Appreciate the knowledge....

Simple swap, No security, just if you have a 6 disk head unit you will want to find one that also has the 6 disk. Or if you want the 6 disk.

Cant go wrong with the free subscriptions, just wish that the bit rate was better on there channels. Sounds very compressed.
