auto dim mirror removal

Does anyone know how to remove the rear view mirror. Mine's the auto dim mirror. I added a sub and it's rattling pretty bad. I wanted to put something on the mount that attaches the metal to the winshield?

I don't have this problem but I've read about it on the following link:

Hope it helps.

you need a rear view mirror removal tool like this

very easy to remove! I did it on my 13 the other day, and dont pry against the glass.

Its a pain in the *** but you can remove it by using very small flathead screw drivers. Eventually it will go.

I didn't need to take the metal off the glass I just wanted to remove the mirror at the base if you get what I mean,I fixed it today. I tracked the rattle and it was coming from the connector on the back of the auto dim. All I did was take the connector off and put a thin piece of rubber material in between the male and female connector and it solved the rattle. If any one has the same issue I'd be happy to post pics of what I did.

glad you fixed it, however the tool posted above does not remove the metal from the glass, it removes the mirror from the mount thats attached to the glass.

I'm back, so the rattle wasn't completely gone. Any one have any ideas on what I can do. I Googled and the majority of the sites I need to remove the mirror assembly. I don't want to remove for two reasons, 1. I don't have the tool 2. I have a a 5-6 inch strip on my windshield and don't want to scratch the tint

you wont scratch the tint because you arent supposed to touch the glass with the removal tool.

I've had my auto-dim-rearview-mirror replaced TWICE under warranty (2011 GT Premium). Poorly designed piece. I'm sure mine will end up rattling again in the future, bummer. Good luck.
