which vinly blackout should I buy?
which vinly blackout should I buy?
I would like to add the vinyl blackout decal to my '12, but would like to know who has the nicest fit, and ease of installation.
The OEM blackout seems like a safe way to go, but it seems a bit pricey.

Are you talking about the decklid panel? I didn't knw Ford had an OEM... not vinyl for the '12 at least.
Anyways... all the slap on black vinyl decklids are pretty inexpensive but will stretch/shrink based on temperature. Also, if your car is a light color, it will not cover completely and the exposed areas will be obvious.
I'd suggest plasti dipping it or going to a vinyl shop (who can probably do it for $30).

When you apply vinyl it should wrap around the bottom edges of the trunk. That's how it's done from the factory. At least the way it was when I had my GTCS trunk.
Ford sells the vinyl piece that is factory on the GTCS decklid. Retail 105 but can get it about 65. Still too expensive. You can get a 48"x24" piece of 3M matte vinyl for about 30 but then u have to cut it yourself. I'll try to get the part number for you.
I'm looking to do this myself and was thinking of 3M carbon fiber vinyl. Not sure if it'll go with the flow tho.
