Stock struts/shocks with lowering springs

Hey Guys,

I just ordered a set of eibach lowering springs [1" front 1 1/2" rear] for my new '12 GT/CS, can i use the factory struts/shocks [car has 199 miles on it] or should i get aftermarkets.

If i need aftermarket i'll need recommendations.

Thanks, Todd.

While the factory dampers will physically still fit, most "official" guidance (I.e. from those who stand to make money from their sales) is that aftermarket springs require aftermarket dampers. This is due to the increased stiffness & responsiveness of the aftermarket springs. It is said the springs will overwhelm the stock dampers & wear them out in a hurry.

As someone who's used a multitude of aftermarket dampers (anyone remember Mulholland shocks) I am very impressed with the new Koni Str-T struts/shocks. Especially for what they cost (about $400/set of 4, low $300's on sale if it ever happens again). Great damping with very little harshness. You will need to shop for 2005-2009 dampers, then get a pair of Ford GT500 strut mounts to make them work on a 2011+ 5.0. But they will work beautifully!

Also there isn't a 2011+ part number, or do i have to order as you stated?

Thanks.

I'm debating Koni STR.T's or Sports right now with with Ford Racing P springs. I can't decide if I want to have the adjustability.

Hopefully this summer I will lower and do suspension.

I would definitely recommend changing out the struts and shocks.

I just placed an order with him yesterday for some Koni sports. Matching up with the Steeda Ultra-lites....this should help make my ride way better.

I have the FRPP P spriongs with stock dampers, rides good!
As long as your not planning on doing it for long.
I'd recommend getting some STR.t's and that is what I will be doing soon (along with a new set of springs for a tad lower stance)

Not mandatory, but to counter the lateral offset to your rear axle caused by lowering you ought to spring for the extra $160 to also get a Steeda adjustable panhard bar. The offset after lowering depends on the amount of lowering. In the case of my Steeda Ultralites it looked like it was off by 0.5" to 3/4", but the Steeda bar evened it back out nicely. Without the bar the resulting lateral offset means your rear tires track straight, but they aren't centered wrt the car centerline.

T-Fatty- I installed the Eibach Prp Plus kit-lowering springs and front/rear anti sawyer bars. Absolutely perfect mod. No camber plates needed, either. Just get her aligned. The ride is firmer, but not harsh. The look is killer, too. No more big gap between the wheel well and tires.

Blue Oval Industries, here in Virginia. They have a web site, and I think I bought these on eBay. I am very happy with them. These are plastic, but someone out there make billet ones, which I think are a bit too costly. These emblems were about $20 to $22 for both.
