Retro fitting non-HIDs on a '13

Hi all

Is it possible to retro fit a set of non-HID headlamps onto a '13MY? Do the previous light units actually fit in the new '13 front end?

Why am I asking? Well, in theory, the new HIDs are illegal in the EU as they don't come with self levelers or washers, both required when the headlamps use HID technology.

So, in theory, to pass the IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval) test here in the UK, an old set of lights can be fitted. However, to be strictly legal, you'd need to keep the non-HID lights fitted.

Sounds stupid, and it is. However, I'm just interested in whether the old non-HIDs actually fit the new front end.

Thank you
Paul

They're not fitting washers and autoleveling to them when they export them?

Nope.........because they are unofficial imports.

Our import specialists will buy direct from dealers, not Ford.

Ah, ok.

To answer your question, yes.

Boss 302Rs have the '11-'12 Halogens with '13 bodywork.

As far as wiring, you might be on your own for that.

I'd swap, get cleared, then swap back on.

Yep, that's the most logical approach

However, once the car is 3 years old, it then needs to go for an annual MOT (Ministry of Transport) test for road safety compliance. The non-HID lights should, in theory, be refitted to pass......a real pain.

And also, in theory, is the car was involved in a crash and it was discovered it had non-compliant lights the insurance could be nulled.

Just another of the joys of a grey import car

Roush did it.
If you truly wanted You would need to swap headlight Wiring Harneses's

Those headlights are worth about $500 a piece so if you sell them and the harness it should be an even swap, even make a little

Roush did not do it. They just bought a '13 front end for testing and fitting purposes on an older model.

Where did you buy the car? Aren't they sold in compliance to specs where they are sold?
