Looking At The Pictures of The Roof in The Thread It Does Not Appear to Me The Trim Needs Removal. Skip The Phone Calls & Print Out Some Pictures and Pay a visit With Car To Some Local Installers. Less Guesswork That Way. The Factory Shop Manual Does Not Mention the Glass Roof as Needing any Different Glass Procedures. But Ford Shop Manuals Don't Always Show Everything. Now if The Glass Roof Needed Removal Then The Applique Comes into Play!
I am Including Applique Pdf and Windshield Reseal Pdf For Your Project!

It is unfortunately still sitting in my garage as im still working on getting the car to pass emissions for new plates.
As for removing the trim panels as far as im aware you can remove the glass without having to remove the the panels. The roof top i have for my swap has no front and rear windows. I think the only time you would need to change them is for any type of damage to the parts or structural roof replacement. Otherwise the trim pieces glue down first then the glas goes over that.
I was wondering if there’s anyone that can help me with my conversion
I need help with mine…I’ve had the glass roof for the last 2 years and no shop wants to help me…I’ve also reached out to shops across the states…no luck

Well,
It Sounds Like You are Determined to Do This So Here is a Guy Who Posted awhile Back on How He Cut Up & Put Cars Back Together as a Bodyman. He Was Looking For a Project!
Is it possible to replace the roof on a 2006 Mustang with a glass roof from a 2010 - 2014 Mustang? I understand that the front and rear trim pieces are nearly impossible to find; I'm just trying to determine if it is possible before starting to spend time trying to source the parts to make it happen. Thanks in advance.
Since the glass roof first showed up on a 2009 I would think it is very possible to make a conversion. Glad I have a glass roof and don't need to, but I think it is very possible if you have skills. May have to find a donor 2009 though.

I have located and obtained a donor glass roof from a 2012 Mustang in a salvage yard; it is complete with all exterior pieces, glass, headliner, and sunshade. My only problem appears to be that the front and rear exterior trim pieces that fit between the windshield and the glass roof in the front, and between the glass roof and the rear window in the back, are no longer available; and cannot be re-used as they will be damaged when they are removed from the donor. If anyone has a pair of these trim pieces available, or knows of a source, I would be greatly appreciative.
I Think Your Best Bet is To Find a Way Not To Damage The Used Ones. Since They Would Be Coming Off a Wrecked Car It Would Not Be an Issue If Using Chemical To Soften Urethane So Mouldings Could Be Taken Off intact. I had Located The Last Known NOS OEM Mouldings For a Member A Year Back or So and Just Checked The Ford Locator System Again and No More Have Shown Up!
A Trip To a Good Glass Shop Might Shed Some Light on What They Would Use To Soften Urethane. Anyhoo Here is What Google Says as Far as Chemical!
If I Had a New Set I Might Consider Getting Them Scanned To Be Laser Printed. Seems Like Folks Will Be Needing These From Time To Time. A Custom Shop With All The Bells & Whistles Might Also Be Able To Reproduce a Set In Aluminum With Proper Equipment.
Other Than That I'm Out of Idea's For The Present!
Best of Luck!

Stronger, more polar solvents like dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and tetrahydrofuran (THF) are generally effective at dissolving polyurethane, especially cured polyurethane. Other options include acetone, xylene, and dedicated chemical strippers, but these are best for uncured material or may only soften cured polyurethanes. Always prioritize safety by working in a well-ventilated area and wearing appropriate protective gear when using these chemicals.
Effective Solvents for Polyurethane
DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide): A versatile and effective solvent for both cured and uncured polyurethane residues.
DMF (Dimethylformamide): A strong, polar solvent that can be effective, though it is a high-boiling point toxic chemical.
THF (Tetrahydrofuran): A powerful solvent but highly flammable.
Methylene Chloride: A strong solvent, but it is a toxic carcinogen and can damage electronic components, making it unsuitable for many applications.
If You Have a Whole Roof Section Coming Off a Car and if Everything is Intact The Mouldings Do Not Need To Be Removed To Install Windshield So Why Couldn't It Be Installed as One Unit?? Unless I'm Missing Something Or Roof Can Not Be Installed With Glass in Place??
I See How Op Drilled Out Spot Welds & Sectioned His Install. But What if You Installed it intact Like Picture? I Know it Looks Scary To Cut Your Car Like This Pic Below. But it is an Option!

Thanks; but we are going with the OP's method (leaving my current roof structure in place and drilling out the inner frame on the donor, and installing the inner frame and glass on my car); rather than cutting the front and rear pillars on my car and welding in the entire roof section from the donor. If the front and rear trim pieces don't surface anywhere, the shop will try to remove them without damaging, or if that's not possible then they will fabricate some new ones. If you happen to run across some somewhere, please let me know!
As Suggested in Previous Post Surely There is a Chemical Solution To Soften The Urethane. I Have Had a Similar Experiance Trying Different Chemicals To Soften The Odd Adhesive Ford Uses on The Center Puck of The 05-09 Faux Gas Caps I Restore.
If There is Some Cured Urethane on The Windshield Pillars of Your Donor Roof You Could Cut off Some Sections & Test By Soaking in a Glass Jar Different Options. See What Turns it To Jelly & Also Not Damaging Paint If Possible. And Yes I Had Some Bad Results With Some Options Eating Up The Chrome!
Well I have my glass roof swap started and its looking good so far I imagine that it would be finished this next week! I wanted to show some progress shots of where it is now and answer any questions you guys might have. The roofs inner structure is the same but the outer panels are definitely different and would need to be transfered over. I will find out how the 2 trim pieces came off and if they could be salvageable.
nitely different and need to be swapped from the donor roof.
I also reread the thread you probably could section and install the entire roof as it is assembled but most body shops wouldnt want to be responsible for cutting every structural point of the cars pillars off and splicing into them. Tho not impossible tho.
A Way Needs To Be Found To Duplicate Mouldings, Fiberglass, Laser Printed or Cnc Metal Etc. Detailed Pics of The New Mouldings From A Lot of Angles Would Likely Help Somebody Down The Road if You are Able To Do! Just a Request!

Small update on the car. Since it was in the shop I also had the lower quarter repaired since it was rusting.
The roof hopefully had the glass reinstalled onto it yesterday and then will be painted and I should be getting it back early this coming week. I am so excited to finally have this finished, this has been something I have wanted to have since the first time it was an option to be able to do on the early s197 cars.
