Well today we ran into our first setback. The replacement panels came but the rear panel was all dented and scratched and would not fit flat on the header. So now my timeline is at the mercy of tasca.... Car would have been done by Friday if the panels came perfect.
But on a side note the frame is welded in and the car is getting painted tomorrow. Really looks good.
Also here is what the old panels look like when they are removed...
Now for the pics of the damaged panel....
Needless to say for the price I paid for that panel NEW Im not a happy camper right now.
Here are pics of how the box came which should have been their first indication the part was bad (the bag the part came in inside the box had been opened and taped back up.) I cant even believe this got pulled off the shelf at the Ford national warehouse in Michigan it is so beat up. Notice the x marks in chalk on the box, the front trim which came perfect didnt have those.

Its fine tasca quickly realized that this was damaged on their watch and had to bite the bullet and order a new one for me.

Just to keep this updated on what is happening. Tasca replaced the panel free of charge and I got to keep the bad panel as it was decided the damage did not occur during shipping. I just got off the phone with Tasca and the replacement is being sent out today with next day parcel. Which means I can test fit the panel tomorrow with my body guy. We couldn't get the glass guys to comeback until after Memorial Day. So Tuesday afternoon I should see the car with glass back in it. Then I should have the car back that day or Wednesday. Labor and materials is around $700 but that is just an estimate.

Well the replacement panel came in and it fit like a glove. So car is now getting painted. I will hopefully drive back this weekend to see the painted frame. Then Tuesday evening or wensday I should have the car back with the glass installed!

Very nice. It is awesome when a vendor does the right thing and stands behind their stuff. Sound like you are almost there.

I did manage to pick my car up on Tuesday. I put it back together the same night. I was holding off on posting pics until my 401A upgrade was done but I have no clue when the shifter will be in. So without further delay here is the finished product!
Warning Picture Heavy! lol
First look at the car with the glass one it.
How the inside looks without the headliner.
How it looks from the top!
Inside view (Please excuse the seat, it has been fixed)...still waiting on the shifter.
Some exterior glam shots. Can't even tell it has a glass top!
Some shots of the glass.
Just a bad shot I took.
The only problem which is that they couldn't reuse the factory weatherstrip, so they used a universal one that rolls on all 4 edges. But it is what it is, I could probably tuck it down with glue or something...

You and your shop did a very awesome job with the glass roof transformation. From the images, looks just like it came from the factory, IMHO. As for the weatherstripping? I'd just apply some glue adhesive as you mentioned which should hold it down in place with no problem. Anyway, once again, very nice job and congrats

Thank you for your posts on installing a glass roof. I followed from start to finish. You did an outstanding job on that S197. That's a body style that I think was one of the best.
Job Well Done Sir!!

I love that you've built your car into what you wanted it to be! Also, don't worry about the weatherstrip - that actually looks better than the factory one!

Great job! Boy that v6 has gone through a full transformation. Looks very nice. You would never know the glass top was added. Now it is ready for a heart transplant.
