You also posted this on a thread you submitted in the General Chat Forums titled "Glass Roof Conversion" which was also addressed!

If you're unable to locate a custom installer/performance shop in your local area, I would suggest doing a google search and starting from there... You might also consider searching the sub-forums by selecting the search function menu located above on the home page... When the search box window displays, type in "Glass Roof Conversion" Hopefully, you'll then come across a listing of threads to help guide you in locating a custom installer... In the meantime, best of luck to you...

Hey everyone figured would ask here and see if anyone has the front and rear trim panels for the glass roof install? Found a roof and looking for those panels I find it hard to believe there are none available.

Are These Interior or Exterior Pieces? I Remember Getting One in The Shop When I Was Still Working in Ford Parts 7-8 Years ago And The Interior Slider Was Fubar and I Could Not Get any Parts For it. The Rarer The Option The Harder To get Pieces. As a Ford Parts Manager Veteran 30+ Years I Would Highly Advise Not Doing This. It Was a Nightmare With Ford Sunroofs over The Years and I'm Pretty Sure This Will Be a Nightmare as Well. If You Really Want a Glass Roof I Would Try & Find a Car With That Option Vs Converting Yours.

Now With That Being Said if You Wish To Proceed Give Me a Good Description of Exactly What You Need and Year Model And I Will Try To Help You Find it.

Might Have To Make or Modify another Custom Piece. Just a Thought Maybe One of These Could Be Trimmed & Adapted. I Know it's Not as Close as You Would Like But

I would cut the pillars as the black trim pieces are not available. As for the interrior trim with the shade might be.

Well I'll give you credit, you went after something you wanted and trying to make it happen.

But personally I'm so sick of glass roofs I wish I could get rid of all the ones in my cars.

A very big thank you to 05stangkc for finding probably the last 2 front and back trim pieces available from Ford. I was able to find a glass roof locally for super cheap. Picked it up today and will need to start planning and how i will be doing the swap over. Excited to see it all come together!

How were you able to find a glass roof? I'm thinking about doing this too but its so niche I don't really know how or where to begin looking. Appreciate any help.

I Listed Sources for Used Parts on Post 68!

Although it was For Locating Just The Trim these Folks Would Have Possibly Have a Complete Glass Roof Equipped Car!

Try & Locate a Car With ALL the Pieces Still on it and in Great Shape!

I was scrolling thru fb marketplace and saw a 2012 being parted out by a scrapper the next town over. Got lucky i guess and it only cost $600 for the entire top and didnt have to pay shipping.

The ebay prices out there for these is ridiculous and alot wont ship them due to breakage concerns. Not to mention the biggest parts yo find are the front and back trim pieces. They have been discontinued by Ford and incredibly scarce at this point, unless a stockpile is hiding somewhere. Otherwise you have to try and save the ones from a salvaged car, which could be tough they are urethane glued on and the service manual states they non reusable.

Awoychosky

This is one hell of a thread. Amazing project.

I came here after searching for some help with my windshield and I hope you can help me.

I have a 2013 MCA with the glass roof. It is my daily driver and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. Yesterday I got a crack in the windshield. I want o replace it with an OEM windshield to retain the originality of the car. I called a local installer (not Safelite) and he stated he did not want to do the removal since he is unfamiliar with the front trim piece on glass roof cars. He thinks it needs to be removed prior to replacing the glass. He states he would have to remove the liner to get to the bolts that hold the trim piece.

Based on your statement above, I am very fearful if the piece needs to be removed since they are pricy and not in production. Based on your project, is it necessary to remove the trim to change the glass? I wouldn't think so, but rather get some background info before going back to the tech.

I appreciate any input. I love my car because of the glass roof. I am worry that if the piece needs to be removed, I may not find another one to replace it with.

Thanks

Sal

Welcome,

Looking At The Pictures of The Roof in The Thread It Does Not Appear to Me The Trim Needs Removal. Skip The Phone Calls & Print Out Some Pictures and Pay a visit With Car To Some Local Installers. Less Guesswork That Way. The Factory Shop Manual Does Not Mention the Glass Roof as Needing any Different Glass Procedures. But Ford Shop Manuals Don't Always Show Everything. Now if The Glass Roof Needed Removal Then The Applique Comes into Play!

I am Including Applique Pdf and Windshield Reseal Pdf For Your Project!

The Most Recent Poster in Here Might Be a Better Source of Information on Your Glass Question Depending on How Far He Got With it at This Point! @Darb I Had Located Him The Last Two Front & Rear Appliques in The Ford Network. So He Has Hands On Parts Knowledge.
