Thumbs down Manual to Power Seat swap

Hi Friends,

I have a 2013 V6 base with manual seats. A local seller is selling seats. He did not mention what year the seats are coming out from. But he mentioned that "2005-2014 Mustang Leather Front/Rear Seats. Both Passenger/Driver are electrical w/heated option". Are the seats same from 2005 - 2014 cars?
If yes, is my car pre wired for power and heated seats? If it is not, How of of an effort is it to get these into my car? Or it is even worth it?

Thanks in Advance!!!

if there are any pictures I can tell you what year they came out of. but the plug might be there I know that the cut in the carpet is there to check go under you seat and feel around inside and see if you can find a extra plug it would be around the same place as your air bag wire. ( You might have to remove your seat to check, dont worry its only 4 bolts.)

I have already asked the seller for the year and pictures. So, from your response I am assuming that there are plugs for the power seat but not for heating? Please correct me if I am wrong.

My guess is you will not have the proper harness to support putting the seats in and would need to wire it up manually. Reach up under your seat and check for any extra plugs on your harness.

I 'think' the 05-09 seats are not like the 2010-2012 seats. I 'think' the seats were changed again for the 2013-2014 Mustangs.

I have power and heated front (both) seats and will tell you, somewhere on this Forum is a Thread where a lot of members have had their drivers side power motors to fail (mine also ) It would be 'big bucks' to fix if you aren't under warranty. I was lucky, i still had a few months of warranty left when my power seats motors failed

I would be concerned about the airbag compatibility more than anything else. Those things a little bombs waiting for a trigger to set them off.

05-09 front seats will do fit the rear seats wont fit 2011+ the only difference on 2013-14 seats are the headrests, the heated seats (2 wires I asume) will be in the same harness as powered seat wires are. air bag should not be an issue as there are only 2 wires and I believe the resistance is the same between gen5 years. if you need anything else just pm.

Great Info!! I can understand that the switch for the power seat is on the seat it self, But I am not sure where the switch of the heated seat is located? Will I need to install couple switches?

I am in the middle of a move, so I can`t do this right away, but I can get you the wiring diagrams. When I installed OEM heated seats in my 05, it was not as simple as wiring the heated elements to the button on the center dash. I also had to wire in relays and get power from somewhere.

Jim010 took away what I was going to say. The wiring in of the original heated seats is a large undertaking. The wiring in of the relays and where Ford says to put them is a joke if you don't have the original brackets to mount them correctly. I got lucky and found the only wrecked 05-9 I've found in anyones bone yard here, and got lucky and found the relay assembly and harness. It was so much easier than what I was going to do originally.

Thank you guys for all the information and suggestions!! Looks like this is not only an expensive ordeal as well more than just a simple swap. I will probably just give it up. I might lean towards Stock Recaros if I find any.
