GI/GB: Klearz corner lenses (front & rear)

I've been talking with Klearz, who right now is the only company who does front AND rear lenses for the 2010+ cars.

http://www.klearz.com/ford.html

Normally, these sets go for $120 for all four, or $60 per front/rear. If we get 5 or more, the price drops to $100 for a full set, or $50 per front/rear. Shipping is a flat $14 to anywhere in the US/Canada.

Once the interested are signed up, I will move on from here. I don't have details yet on how the discount will be applied, but I will update as soon as I do have more info.

With these, you have four options for color:

These retain the same reflector pattern as the OEM corners, will look almost stock.

If you're interested, please add your name to the list, along with details on what you want exactly (complete set, front, rear, and color combo). If you have any other questions, post them or PM me.

I have no affiliation with Klearz, I just am trying to get us TMS members a good deal on a quality product.

I have installed a set, pictures are in this thread.

List of interested parties:

1. Yasuro, fronts, smoke/black
2. Big Poppa, Full Set, smoke/black
3. SD6, Full Set, smoke/black
4. dnr427, full set, white/clear
5 LQQK, rear, smoke/black

What is the difference between these and the ones on eBay? The additional variety?

Those you posted have reflectors in the inside, where the OEM and Klearz are on the surface. Those will have a different light signature than the OEM ones.

I would be interested in a set...think the smoke/black would look best with sterling grey?

Either black/clear or black/smoke would be my suggestion. The lighter colors would look bright on that paint.

I actually think I'm going to do the smoke/black on Kona as well. The more I've looked at these, the more I think it'll blend in better.

Hi Steve,

I'm interested (clear/white combo), but I have 2 questions:

1. Do they come with colored bulbs? I assume the stock bulbs are clear, and I would need amber and red bulbs to stay legal.

2. How much of a P.I.T.A. are they to swap out?

Thanks!

Rick

Rick,

To answer your questions:

1 - I don't know yet. I have emailed Klearz to find out. If not, you could reuse the clear bulbs in there now, but it *technically* wouldn't be legal. If you find an amber/red bulb for the front/rear, you'll be fine. I will probably put LEDs in mine once they arrive.

EDIT - I just got word back, they do NOT come with bulbs.

2 - The front are bolted to the fascia, so it needs to be removed to get at. You can look at the Roush fascia installation instructions to get an idea of what all is involved, but a good guess is 60 min per front or rear set.

I've had the rear bumper off the car, but don't remember how they're mounted. It's not terribly difficult to get at.

No problem. I need the 5 interested parties before we'll get our discount, but right now, I'm going to do smoke/black to blend in. I want them to be hard to notice during the day, but still have some output at night.

After looking at what reflectors I used on my Mazda, they were smoke/black and were on a grey car. They blended in very well, so I'm going with what I know works.

Yeah, I've got clear on my '05, dark smoke on my '07, and not sure yet about the '11.

I will be watching this thread.

I'll be sure to keep it updated. I think for your Kona, smoke/black will blend the best. Clear/black would be noticeable all the time, but would also put out more light.

Since it appears some of you are on the fence about this, I've contacted Klearz and tried to get a set for some validation. I will keep you updated.

Update:

I have ordered a set of smoke/black reflectors and will provide more details on them for the forum. Stay tuned.

I also believe I found a suitable LED to swap out and install in the sidemarkers that is available in both red and amber:

I will definitely get in on this group buy, just trying to think which color combo works best for me.

I'm thinking clear/black or smoke/black with colored bulbs (or maybe these LEDs that Overboost posted). Not sure if the output from the bulbs or LEDs would be enough to shine through the smoke lens.

I would stick with conventional bulbs. Surface mount (SMD) LEDs are great, but 120 degrees of light just won't cut it. I believe these LEDs will only light up one half of the lens, or worse you'll only see a round circle of light. Take a look at the bulb positions and you will see what I mean. Also, since these lights don't blink you won't benefit from the cool factor of instant-on/instant-off that LEDs provide. I would save my money, but if they are already ordered I am curious to see how they turn out. Just my 2 cents.
