It took a couple of days, but I finally found a place that sells it in sheets that big.

Gotta wait till next week to get it because they're not open on Saturdays.
Care to PM me the source, I need some to make an RTR style splitter for my rear valence.

Got the Sintra sheet today. I'll weight both (ABS and Sintra) and see what the difference is.

EDIT --------------------------

Comparing ABS and Sintra, both sheets are 70x24x1/4 - the Sintra sheet isn't quite 1/4 inch thick, but it weighs just 60% of what the same size sheet of ABS weighs (ABS is 13.5 pounds, Sintra is 8 pounds). I figure the final shape of the splitter will result in 20-30% of the material being cut away.

How's this splitter project coming along? Haven't gotten any updates for awhile.

Yeah I know, I have the materials, and even have the back of it cut out to (where it hits the OEM splash guard thing), but real life (including working most weekends since the beginning of February, or it was too cold to work outside) got in the way, and I've been admittedly procrastinating because I am sure I'm gonna screw it up.

This weekend, I used a piece of white foam board to make a pattern of the bottom of the front fascia (it's a 3D Carbon Boy Racer fascia):

After I did that, I drew out three possible profiles, but I'm conflicted on which one to use. On top of that, there's a fourth one I could use that isn't as "fancy".

By profile, I mean the shape of the splitter as it comes froward from the front of the wheel opening. I've looked at a bunch of different ones for reference. I've only seen one car with a Boy Racer front fascia that also has a splitter on it:

Until I saw that, I thought my idea was unique (right down to the sheet aluminum cover/support in the front). In any case, there's no really good picture of the splitter on that car, and even if there was, I'm not sure I want the same shape, although it would simplify things.

I've narrowed it down to three, but it's difficult to describe them. I was considering posting a picture and asking for an opinion (although I kinda think opinion threads are generally pointless, and I generally avoid posting in them).

Beyond all that, I don't know how far out to bring the front lip. The car is already pretty low in the front, and I'll be taking 1/4 inch off it's current clearance, making speed bumps and driveways even more dicey than they already are (the bottom of the fascia is already scraped up pretty good from when I was learning about the ground clearance). Even reasonably flat road kill makes me apprehensive, and I don't want this splitter to be turned into nothing more than an over-designed spatula.

I don't have a shop or anything, and I'm doing this all free-hand. The material isn't expensive (Sintra) at about $25 for a 24x70inch sheet, but I hate doing stuff twice. It took me almost four months to make a set of wheel caps.

It's entirely possible that I'm simply over-thinking it.

How easy is that sintra to work with? And where'd you get it? I've been on the fence for a while about trying to make some custom pieces as well since I've got a full aftermarket body kit.

Also, feel free to post a picture of your ideas for the shape of your splitter. I'd be happy to help you out even though, like you said, most people's opinions are usually pointless anyway haha.

I'm leaning toward the last one:

I think both 1 and 3 look pretty good. Not really a fan of #2 though.
