IIRC the badge on 5.0 can be removed -- they have an adhesive backing. At least the all the earlier models are designed that way.

heat gun and non mar tool should do it.

Oops!! should have read the rest of the thread

Thanks for the advise guys. Got the 5.0 off, and the PBF on. Got the 5.0 off under 3 minutes, with fishing string. The left over adhesive was another story.. 1 1/2, to 2 hrs each side..

Actually it would be very easy for Ford to make fenders with and without holes if the decision was made prior to tooling up the fenders. They would simply make the punches removable. Sure it's a small additional set up cost, but that's not all that much when running thousands of fenders in a batch.

Back in the 70s it was not uncommon to have optional trim that required holes in fenders, door panels, and quarter panels.

My plan was to just debadge the car. But, I stumbled on these at mustangs plus, where I have spent freakish money on my old 66 fastback (now sold). When they removed the 5.0 badges these badges covered the existing holes. New holes were drilled and ta-da.

I'm really happy with the end result. Although when having my car washed the other day a 20ish kid asked me, What is a 302??? Is that some new engine??? That said, nice kid and great wash job.

The Faux gas cap is the ugliest thing about our cars IMO. I've always disliked it and hope to somehow get the bling off. The gt only without the big goofy chrome ring would look much better.

I didn't take mine off when I sprayed it. Just cover everything around it.

I'd like to have just the GT with the border ring removed.

I know but with my luck I'll get it everywhere lol. I want to keep the pony and writing in silver. I guess I could just cover the middle too, since the background is black...hmm

I did the plasti dip on the car and I didnt like it. It came out too much like a Truck Bed liner. Very coarse and rough, even to the eye. Dirt stuck to it like crazy. And when i took the tape off i messed up some of the edges.

I notice some guys dont tape right up to the edge. They actuall ylet the plasti dip get on the car around the faux cap slightly. Then maybe trim with a razor?
