What is the easiest way to route wires from the door throgh the grommet into the cabin?

Any hints? I was trying to route a wire on the passenger side today and I just couldn't get it up the wire loom. Feeling around the inside doesn't help as my fingers are not long enought to reach the cabin grommet as it is offset from the interior access hole. Haven't tried the drivers side yet. I just gave up for the day working on it and will go back to it after.

It is an evil pain in the butt! I figured out how to do this when I installed LED lights in the door pockets of my former 08 Mustang.

First thing you need to do is pop the accordion shaped boot off the door hinge pillar. The boot is fixed over a plastic piece that snaps into place in a rectangular hole in the door hinge pillar and you have to press in the right places for this to release. This will allow you to fish wire from the inside of the door and push it through to the other end of the boot. It works best with a coat hanger or wire fish tape.

Right at the door hinge pillar where you removed the boot, there is a wiring harness connector that joins the door wiring to the body wiring. Around the sides of this connector is just enough space to push wire through. From the inside under the dash you will then be able to feel around and reach the wire to pull it through into the kick panel area.

So that hard square piece on the body side will come out with a little force? I wasn't too sure. Didn't want to break anything.

Thanks!

that rubber boot is a pain in the *** to put back in. I was messing with it for like 45 minutes until I figured out a trick. my advice is to spray it with lithium grease where it goes in the opening and then run a wire or string around it to help keep it in place from the back as you finagle it back in.

Do not use a hanger to fish wires through. You can gouge or scrape the insulation off other wires and cause electrical issues.

Did you use resistors since puddle lamps voltage is about 6 volt?

So I was looking on ebay for the puddle lights and found someting odd that I thought I would share for anyone looking to buy, replace, or have an extra set on hand. There is a seller called sunrisefordparts that is selling the right side puddle lamp for $22?!?! The left one however is still $72?!?! I emailed him trying to get an idea of why one side was so much more than the other and this was his reply:

"We see this alot ford says its the aquisitioin cost the sets list price i can sell left for 72.88 call 909-822-8736 for that price"

I ordered the right sidet one just to have, and maybe play around with since it was only $22. Here is a link to their store on ebay, for anyone looking to get one of them cheap:

Do you have the exact ebay link to the actual puddle light auction number?

Wouldn't even bother, my 13' with 8500 miles on it already has lines through the pony image. Not sure what might be causing it but it's not even worth fixing.

After some thought, the only reason I could come up with for the price difference must be the direction the pony is running. The right side one runs to the right and the left hand side one runs to the left. Since traditionally the pony has always run to the left, anyone wanting to get one of these to use in an application other than what it was intended for (the mirrors), would probably want the left running (driver's side) one, so maybe it's more in demand???!!!???

Ford has just now changed the part numbers for these. The new numbers are the same, but the end letter has changed on both sides to the letter "B".

D3RZ-13B375-B for the left side and
D3RZ-13B374-B for the right side. These were with an "A" at the end before.

These are now selling at 32 for the left side, and less for the right. Both have been updated by Ford. Hopefully it will take care of the moisture problem they say they had before.

Thank you! I'm definitely going to do this when mine comes in. My fiancé loves this feature, but we ordered Recaros (or more specifically, I did lol) so she's not getting heated seats or the pony lights - I figured I can add back at least one of her wants haha. I pretty much got the Electronics Package just so she could have the dual zone climate control, knowing I had to have the Recaros and she would be bummed about not having heated seats.

i was thinking about adding heat to my Recaros. my dealer says they can add heaters along with the OEM heated seat dash switches for $400 which includes install. not sure if that is a good price or not but..... it will look OEM when finished. If i did not have a 2015 50th Anniversary on order i would have done it already.

Hmmm that's actually not bad. And it would add back at least two of the four blank switches on the dash, which always bugged me. I wonder if one of my local dealers would match that. $400 installed is probably as good as it would get. Would they be the OEM hearing elements on the non Recaros?

yes they are the OEM elements. The car would go to a shop to have the seat heaters installed and then come back to the dealer for the wiring harness / switch install. He said the outside shop installs all the dealer after-market seat covers and could uninstall / re-install the leather Recaros covers much faster than ford dealer
