I just knew someone would try that!!!!! That would make quite an impression for show...

What would be even more fun would be to have them pointed on the door of a Camaro at a stop light to make it look owned...

Can we clear a few things up?

- Is the bare housing or shell on the '13 the same (aside from any included innards) as the '10/'11/'12? I ask because I know that you have to drill in order to fit an '10/'11/'12 housing to a '05-'09 car.

- I'm interested in changing out the mirror housing (etc) on my '09. To minimize fabwork, can I simply add a '13 housing, mirror, motor, puddle lamp, and integrate it into my '09 harness as listed in the first post of this thread?

The mirrors are the same as 10-12 except for the modification to the bottom of the housings to provide a hole for the projector lamp to mount into. No matter what you have to drill to make the mirror fit the 05-09 door as well as provide power leads from the dome lamp or another switched circuit of your choice.

well this was an interesting Sunday activity.

sorry no pics yet, but I installed the pony projectors plus red led light strips inside the housing around the mirror glass. Also put in the spotter mirror glass because my '10 didn't come with them.

used epoxy to bond the projectors to the the mirror housing as well as make the install waterproof. I recommend epoxy or RVT to bond the projectors on because you will have to trim the clips off the projector lights as they won't fit properly with 2010-2012 mirror housings.

Not done yet because I haven't run the wiring through the door grommet yet or connected it up yet, but the hard part is done. I also want to install some white led strips on the bottom of the doors because I want the puddle light mod to be somewhat functional. should be done by next weekend.

I did run power to the mirrors to test them out and boy did it look cool!

well, what a PITA running the wiring was!

spent a few hours last weekend installing the projectors in the mirrors and a few more yesterday running the wiring into the car.

If it was just the projectors I did, the job would have been smoother and faster, however I added a few things since I don't plan on opening taking off the mirrors and door trim ever again.

I added white led strips under the door for actual/functional puddle lamps, plus a Red LED strip behind the door as a warning/courtesy light for drivers behind me.

I also added a strip of red LEDs inside the mirror housing to serve as blinker indicators for the blind spot.

sorry for the night time camera pics.

I'm happy with the way it came out. the Pony is actually much brighter than what it looks like in the picture. Puddle light strips do a great job of lighting up the ground too. I might trim off some of the red led strip because it may be too long, but I don't know. Haven't been able to wire up the turn signal LEDs yet because I can't find the right wires at the SJB and have to go through the wiring diagrams again to figure it out. But, all the hard work is done!

am I happy with it? hell yes. would I do it again? Hell no. not bad for $160 in parts I think.

they're all wired together and connected to the overhead lights circuit as sscobra did it. wired it up to draw power when the door is unlocked/opened/ignition key removed.

I'd really appreciate any information anybody may have about wiring them properly through the SJB - and whether any special programming would be required to get them to work exactly like the factory-installed PPLs.

Installing them on a '13 GT500 SHOULD make things easier. Then again, a $70K GT500 **** well ought to have heated seats and a backup camera too, but doesn't.
