SCT Tune for 4.0L

Well I recieved my Programmer and tunes this week and loaded them into the car.
V6 Auto Stock. The programmer really opens up the car for more power and pedel response.
No delay when you step on the pedel anymore.
I am gonna run the 91 Race tune for a while and see if it will also help with gas mileage.
I tried out the performance tune first but I like the race tune better. If I keep that tune on, I may reduce the shift pressure a bit so I don't tear up the tranny to quickly. Realistically if you don't get on the car it shifts somewhat normally in race tune.
Still haven't tried the street tune yet.
The car will now do a burn out(Still one wheel peel) and get a second gear chirp under WOT even with the 255 BFG's I have on there. Makes the car more fun to drive!
Good mode for an Auto!

Given that the 2010 is tuned from the factory to run 93 I'd be curious to see the comparison in performance between an aftermarket 93 tune and the ford tune. I'll have to do some digging around the net and see if anyone has done that.

Who's tune are you using?
I am thinking of putting this on my DD also.

The 2010 V6 runs on 87, no 93 tune on it from Ford. The 4.6 does have the variable tune on it though.

Best of all, both engines will be able to run on regular unleaded just fine. According to powertrain supervisor Chris Roxin, "The 2010 Mustang runs great on regular fuel, and that is where we quote our peak numbers, but we also have a great dual-adaptive knock calibration that allows the 2010 Mustang to run on regular fuel as well as premium fuel, and the system figures it out itself." He added that premium fuel can improve the torque of the engine in the low- to mid-rpm range.

2010 Ford Mustang
Pros
+ V6: 210 hp 240 torque
+ 0-60 MPH: 6.5 seconds
+ The Mustang runs on regular gasoline, but if you put in premium it has adaptive calibration that will give you even better mid-range torque
+ AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control

Both engines have the dual adaptive tune. I put 93 in mine and it does make a slight difference in performance.

I'm just going by what I've read but I'll investigate further just to be sure.

Siber Express I checked the manual and it suggests higher octane for the 4.6 but says nothing at all about the V6 which I assume means stick to the 87. I ran a tank of 93 and it did make a noticeable difference but I'm not going to suggest that to anyone else until I know for sure. As you can see there is some conflicting information out there.

I was just going by the Manual on page 281, it says 87 for the 4.0.

This link is probably not a reliable source and I believe their info is incorrect on this issue.
Please, indeed, do some additional research during your investigation.

I've already gone back to using 87, just ran the one tank of 93 although I know it won't hurt the car since Ford already offers a tune to run 93 for the 2010 V6 from FRPP. Just found that today.

I use 93 for when I am doing Autocross and there is definitely a difference. Then I used my new tuner's preset for 93 and it was even more noticeable. I am going to run on 4/28 and see how much more competitive my times are (I'm the only '09 v6 in a group of Fiestas and GTI's. 😀&#128512.

I will also add to what KC brought up which is, prior to submitting a new thread, it is always recommended to search the subforums for existing threads... Therefore, I would just like to say
thank you for taking the time to use the search function menu... It does not matter how old the thread happens to be; new information is always welcome and always relevant... So once again, thank you for providing very valuable information which will be very useful for those seeking to run 93 octane calibration tunes for their 4.0L V6 applications...

Meanwhile, welcome aboard!
