Ported & Polished Intake Manifolds
The lower, for the new guy to porting, the safest thing would be to lessen the injector bung protrusion as pictured above in the lower. Back and forth, side to side, over the top of it. When it starts looking like pictured above, stop. You could put a hole where the injector seats on the other side of what were looking at above. You could leave all else alone.
As to the fins, get a small handheld tool that holds a hacksaw blade. Cut them down as close to the bottom as you can. This will save how much you have to grind off. I recommend a drill mounted 1-2" sanding drum to finish eliminating them.

I'm kind of leary of trying it yourself. You really want to make sure that you have even airflow to each cylinder so that you don't run lean on one of them and get detonation. I'd leave it to someone who has the equipment to ensure that it's done properly.
Wanted to let anyone who is interested know that Tom is back to doing porting jobs and looks like he is offering a discount.

Finally ported my upper intake manifold and only the upper. I used my dremel to cut out those fins and than I cleaned the area with one of the grinding bits. The lower part of the manifold I just cleaned with the grinding bit. The whole process is pretty time consuming, the cutting takes a while and the cleaning afterwards even more.
Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, I have been busy not to mess it up. After it all I changed my tune to compensate for the increased airflow. The engine accelerates noticeably faster, but the real change I 'll check on my next test drive ...
