New Low-Buck CAI...
Wasn't only considering performance mods but I have some low-buck ones of those waiting in the wings and will post them as they are installed.
And since nobody has had one of these spectre CAI's on a 2011+ Mustang V6 yet then all talk about how bad they are is just speculation based on others talk about parts on other cars so I discount those.
And the spectre CAI isn't chrome, it's polished aluminum and very easily painted, which is what I would do with it if I installed it on my car.

Still metal tubing gets warm and the air is not as cold as it could be without the metal parts. Not all parts inexpensive are cheap, not all parts expensive are not cheap.
This is a myth. The aluminum tube may get warm when the car is sitting idle or off after running but as soon as there is air flowing through the tube at speed it cools of to the ambient temperature of the air flowing through it. So the air entering the motor is as cool as the air entering the filter.
To add to this conversation, most of these kits are "semi" cold air induction anyway. The exposed filter at the top of most kits still allow more than 40% of it's air to be from the inside of the engine compartment. Unless the filter is completely inclosed, and air is only drawn from the outside, it's not a "true" CAI.
The kits that are on the market today have a seal around the top edge, but this does not even come close to sealing around the hood, and most do not even have the bottom square hole to draw cooler air from the front grill area like the stock system does. From what I've been reading so far, Ford has done a good job with the stock Mustang air box already. It flows darn good, so unless you want to dress up the engine bay, or spend the big bucks to buy a "true" sealed CAI, it's best to stick with the stock setup.
This has the makings of a good thread. I hope we can keep it going. I would like to see it continue and not get closed due to difference of opinion and folks getting ticked with each other.
I like the idea of sharing good mods, wether they produce HP/TQ, or if they clean up an area of the engine compartment.
