Experience on improving sound?

Hey guys. I have a 2014 V6 manual. I've done a fair amount of mods so far, but they're all visual. I'm looking to change the sound of the car. But, this is the key, I want to make the tone lower. I don't want to make the car louder. (As much as can be helped.) I have enough cops following me around town as it is. Any advice?

I think just about any axle back exhaust will make it lower. I have the Borla stingers, they made it lower but a little louder too. but if you don't want more noise, they also offer the quieter Borla touring. never heard them but im guessing they will make it a lower tone and same sound level as stock

Magnaflow street cat back. Not much more than the axle backs and give it a deeper tone and only slightly louder. I'll post up a sound clip later if you want. You can also check out american muscle as they also have a sound clip. I have a airaid and tune tho so mines sounds different from there's. Better imo.

BBK Short tube headers, FRPP cut and Clamp X-Pipe and the Stock Manual Mufflers.
I just put the Borla Touring on, little louder but sounds pretty good for a quieter Muffler, just don't have the video of them yet.

The above installed will give you a deeper exhaust tone with no rasp. It will not make the car sound bad at all.

Just did it. It sounds a lot like this:

Shorties so far have improved the sound most for my car. If I were allowed to only do one sound mod, that would be it. All the other breathing mods change the note to some extent or make your car louder, but the shorties do the best job of mellowing out the tone while improving the volume depending on current exhaust mods.

Thanks for all the vids!

I was actually looking at the Borla touring axle backs on AM. It's a shame they don't have a sound clip of these.

Magnaflow street cat back.
Thank you for this suggestion. I took a look at AM's video, and they're pretty impressive. I thought changing the pipes would make it a lot louder. Now I'm wondering if they have a performance gain over the axle backs.

BBK Short tube headers

This is something else I was curious about. Most of the information on pages selling headers talk about how much they improve air flow, but almost never mention how they change the sound of the engine.

Check out the other thread about the BBK Ceramic headers, the vid of my exhaust with the Borla's is in it.
I just watched this. That is a really nice sound. It seems the more information I get the more I have to think about.

It's tough to find videos of just the headers being switched out. So, I'm not sure if the sound/performance gain is worth the cost. I really like the sound of the Borla axle backs. But, now I'm thinking of changing the pipes that lead to them in order to bring out their full potential. I also can't break the warranty, so no tuning.

The Short tube headers will give you low end to mid range power, I have the X-Pipe on mine which changed the tone a bit and also helped in the mid range. I also thought the car was a bit on the quiet side, but did not want see coming loud which is why I was going with the FRPP or Borla Touring, or the GT500's and the Borla's went on sale for under $600 so i pulled the trigger.

The ford racing Sport axle back exhaust is the best sound for daily driving in my opinion.
