2013 Hood Alignment
2013 Hood Alignment
Hi all-- I just recently got some repairs done to the from end of my mustang (after hitting a deer >< ) and the hood is not quite lining up with the front of the fenders. It seems like a simple enough adjustment to make, I really only need to slide the hood forward, but after fiddling with the bolts on the hinge, I quickly realized that I need to slide the hinge itself. Unfortunately the hinge bolts are impossible to get to without removing the fenders, it seems, or taking the hood off a the very least.
Any thoughts on this? Do I need to remove the fenders completely, or can it be done just by taking off the top bolts and swinging it a bit out of the way? Is there a manual somewhere that can step me through the process?

When I installed a fiberglass hood on my 2006 I had to adjust the hinges too. I'm not sure about your 2013 but I just removed the top fender bolts to get to the hinge bolts. I used a 1/4" drive socket with a swivel and extension to reach the bolts. Use some painters tape or a grease pencil to mark the fender locations if you want and it helps to have a buddy to help hold the hood while you're loosening and tightening bolts.
It's not hard just "fiddly".

Thanks NJ. I figured only the top bolts of the fender was enough, good to have that confirmed. I think I'm probably going to just take it back to the shop, but its good to know I have that option in my back pocket. Appreciate the advice!
