Question 2012 V6 Premium Grille's

So I recently bought a 2012 v6 Premium coupe in lava red. My first mod was to install the air raid CAI and now I want to focus on appearance. I want to change the grille but I'm confused as to what fits the V6 premium. Has anyone with a V6 premium changed their grille's here? Do you need to install the V6 base bumper in order to install a new grille?

All v6s of that year have the same front bumpers.

This. If you want to change the bumper you could go with a GT, Roush, GT500 front bumpers. There might be a few more out there but those are the major ones.

I have a 2012 v6 with the pony package grille and I'm having the same issue because the overlay grilles do not work. I'm still trying to find a direct replacement that doesn't require the changing of the bumper...that's ridiculous! If you find anything please post it and ill do the same. Btw I also have the Lava Red, have you had the "your car is black!" Arguments yet?! Lol

Yeah I know this is so annoying. I want the billet grilles but I don't want to have to buy a new bumper just to install them.
I've been looking around and I can't seem to find anyone with the pony package v6 that has a different grille.
Lol yes no one believes me until I show them her in the sunshine

Even when American Muscle did their V6 Project car they swapped the bumper to change the grill. I have a pony package grill and all I wanted to do was get the GT grill or add fogs to the pony package grill bar. So far all I have found is the MCA grill or the standard v6 grill.

+1 There should be more grill options for us sixxer folk. Itd be nice to have a grill that had foglights ala GT style.

Congrats on your purchase! This is the factory grill for the 2013 MCA v6. Best factory grill to date!

That's why I picked up a used front bumper off of a GT....I had unlimited options at that point.

If you are brave enough to cut your front bumper you can fit a GT grille on the V6. I was able to do it with a GT grill + surround I picked up off of Ebay.

Just curious jackheid, but I traded my 2012 lava red v6 premium on July 1 for a race red 2013 GT premium in Wisconsin. Is this where you purchased the lava red? If so, you made a great choice. Regardless, congrats on the ultra rare lava red.

You are going to need to cut the Grill surround off of the bumper as well as all the clips that hold on the V6 grill since the GT clips don't match up. Then you'll need to find a away to mount the GT grill to the inside support. I just made metal tabs and attached them to the support and used the plastic clips that come with the radiator cover to tie the 3 together. I also screwed the grill to the bumber in the middle. Once you start there is no way to undo it. but your final result looks like this.

Y'all are better off picking up a GT front cover. Looks sooo much better, and gives y'all all the options. I picked up the whole front end for mine off of various forums for $225. That's bumper, grille with fogs, lower valance and wiring. I had a pony package so I already have the switch for the fogs. Looks better, and gives unlimited options.

I actually like the lower bumper on the V6 more than the GT, I simply wanted the grill fogs. So for me I got the best of both worlds. But it's pretty impressive that you were able to get all that for so little. I was able to get the grill and surround for $120 and then wiring for $190.
