I'm no expert so people can chime in to correct. I was always told that with street tires you should never really "launch" the car. Instead, feather the gas (as much as possible without spinning too much) while easing up off the clutch. Not really laying into the gas until your certain that your hooked.

Sounds like a little wear and tear on the clutch but hey, so is dumping it.

Start launching at 1500 then increase 200 rpm at a time. It will take 50+ launches to get good. Roll out of clutch while rolling into throttle- don't stomp on it- an burning though a clutch is not uncommon when learning a new cars qwerks. I'm running regular 12.1-12.3 now starting at 1800rpm on NT05 tires. Dont be afraid to feather the clutch in and out...it
Takes fast feet and a willingness to break parts. Slower launches = faster ET for newbies. Slicks/skinnies could help too.

My car ran 11s with slicks and a different driver. I suck at launching.
My best is 12.118@116mph, but best mph was 119.

TJ, will LCAs necessary help prevent wheel spin or mostly just wheel hop and straight launches??

I really like the billet LCAs although I'd prefer them in red or black and they are about $100 more then the others out there...maybe soon..

For me sometimes it's a hit or miss for some reason. Sometimes I barely spin and others I spin a lot. I ran a 12.9 stock on 235 tires. Now with my nittos it hooks better most of the time. I'm gonna have to test the feathering the clutch theory. That's how I launch my street bike. Sometimes I've even noticed when I get caught off guard and launch with out setting the rev it works good but it's a stroke of luck thing. I drop the clutch and mash the gas at the same time.

Exactly on the street bike. If you dump the clutch one of two things happen spin or wheelie.
Your not going to wheelie in a car but you will spin.
Your method of dropping the clutch and mashing the gas will almost always work better then revving to 3000rpm and launching from there.
Lca's can help as TJ said but not if you don't improve your technique.
