thinking about trying a bama tune (AUTO TRANS)
Anyone out there have experience with a bama tune on there auto? I had one on my 2010 auto and I loved it, but with all the #8 issues bama had long ago it has always made me worried about trying one on my 2012. I have a steeda CAI, and lethal O/R x pipe, which im sure bama has tuned tons of.
Also how do you guys like their trans tune? Are the shift points nice and firm, but not blowing the tires off on every shift?

#8 issue is null and void with any reputable tuner now. Steeda or Amazon Racing is my recommendation. I run the Steeda 93 and cai. 15,500 miles and installed at my first oil change at 1,000 miles. Not a hiccup.

I have heard VMP's auto tune is great, but I emailed him many times before I originally bought a tune a few months ago, and after 5+ emails I never got a response so that is a tuner I would NEVER want to deal with.
I have a steeda tune which i do like and the car runs great but it does feel a little conservative which is fine, but i just wish it would hold the gears a little longer and shift a little higher in some gears. The other tune i have is from shaun at aed and it runs like a bat out of hell at WOT but i dont like the way it seems to run. Idles pretty rough and highway gas mileage is like 24-25 whereas it used to be 27-30.
I just figured maybe i would give bama a try since they PERSONALLY have an auto trans car which im sure has a lot of testing done

TJ any way we can adjust the shift points on my current Steeda 93 tune? If we can do that I may not even need to look elsewhere for another tune cause everything is great, just wish it held the gears a little longer and shifted higher. 1-2 shift is great right around 2200-2400 but the 2-3 and 3-4 shift around 1500

You will be fine with #8 issues. I talk to shawn@AED regarding the #8 and he explained the whole thing to me and it make sense. The part of #8 issue come from factory tune. For an example, my stock 2013 GT run 14.0 on WOT! Yes, 14.0 on WOT!! I also double checked this with data log and it command 1 in places of 14.0 which is stoich. Stoich for all copperhead are 14.1 which is calibrated for E10. At first I thought something was wrong with my track app but no, ford did this on purpose to get a better tq curve throughout the rpm range. There's a very good graphical explanation by Shawn over at svtp btw. Only thing that protect our engine from this very lean AFR is cot protection. However, a "fix" has been implemented by most tuners and bama is one of them. Even ford racing also fix this issue now. So I wouldn't worry about #8 issues any longer. You all should be good.
