New Tires on the way!

After a great deal of research and lamenting about tires, I pulled the trigger.

I went with Continental Extreme Contact DW tires for all 4 corners.

255/40-19 for the front
285/35-19 for the rear

The reviews I read indicated that these tires should have amazing grip above freezing temperatures.

Although my car never sees rain these tires are supposed to be the shiznit in the rain.

Im running a 19x10 wheel in the rear with a 19x9 for the front.

They arrive on Tuesday and the pony will be all set for Spring/Summer

You will have almost zero traction with those tires and a TVS. I have the same tires on my '12A6. I am putting out about 400-410rwhp. Mine are slightly slightly smaller in size. These tires have a 540 UTQG rating.

Where were you a week ago? LOL Just kidding.

I believe you may have mixed up the DWS with the DW. The DWS has a rating of 540. The DW has a rating of 340.

The tires are mounted on my new wheels and sitting at the tire shop for me to pick up tomorrow AM.

I think no matter what tire I use with a TVS isn't going to grip real well. One thing is for certain they will be better than the factory stock Pirelli tires.

I did a poop ton of research and the Continentals were very well rated for traction.

You will start getting traction around 40mph.

That's what I figure as well. I'll pick up my new wheels and tires tomorrow. The first warmer day, I'll give everyone an update. The DW got some great reviews and one of them was a guy with a GT500. I figure if he said they are hooking up well, I should be OK.

The DW's don't have a mileage guarantee and the tread wear rating is only 340 so I think they should grab better than the stock Pirelli with a 400 rating. The cooper has a rating of 300. So it isn't that much softer than the Continental. Again a drag radial would have been best but the car would handle like tar. I just wanted something better than what I had, but didn't want to compromise the ford racing adjustable suspension kit.

255/40/19 is a really big tire for the front... Why are you doing a 40 on the front and 35 on the back .. Hope it works for you but I m just wondering how that will look....

The 255/40 has a diameter of 27.0 inches and the 285/35 has a diameter of 26.9 inches. The idea behind it was to get tires as close in diameter as possible.

That's the same exact tire size combination as the Laguna Seca Boss 302 from the factory. Since I have the Boss 302S suspension package, I also figured using the factory size tires Ford used on the Laguna Seca, should be a great match.

I like how the Boss 302 Laguna Seca looks with those size tires on it.

Will let you know this weekend. I'm picking the wheels/tires up tomorrow and will install this weekend. I am a bit nervous about the wheel choice. My nickel colored wheels now look great against the gotta have it green. I went with a gray Laguna Seca wheel so I am hoping it looks good. I found a few photo's online of the same combination and it looked good in the photo's. Who knows it could be an epic failure but I am hopeful.

As for the tires. From the research I did they should be great but opinions are like belly buttons and everyone has one. LOL. Car and Driver did a cool tire test a couple of years back and it included the DW. They ended up middle of the pack. Michelins of course pulling in the top spot. I like the Michelins but they are so pricey. For a car that I only drive about 6 months out of the year I just couldn't justify the expense. Besides I just dropped $6K on the Roush TVS kit. LOL

Correct, same set-up as Boss LS (F 19x9, 255/40; R 19x10, 285/35). I have the EXACT same set-up. Looks great, no issues, OEM size diameters, speedo is not affected. I also ran the Conti DW - great tire overall. My opinions on the tires:
PROS - quiet, comfortable, great dry grip, good wet grip, very good price $, very high wear rating for a summer tire.
CONS - a lot of tire howl when pushed hard, a little too tame for me on the track.
Post up pics when you have them!

They are on. They look awesome. Will post some pics when I can get the car out in the daylight on Saturday. Lighting in the garage isn't all that great. Those 285's fill the rear wheel well nicely.
