Long Tube Header Purchase
Long Tube Header Purchase
I am looking to purchase a set of long tube headers for my '14 GT and wanted to know what the difference between a 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 and a full length 1 7/8 is? I'm initially looking at the BBK ceramic coated headers and would like to keep an H pipe. Any recommendations on shorty H pipes that will work well with the BBK or is it best to modify as I believe they only make a shorty X. I have the GT500 AB to pair up with these and am looking for good sound quality first over loud volume. Any links to similar set ups would be awesome.
Thanks.
Thanks.
The smaller tubes will make more torque at lower rpm then the larger ones. The "stepped" tube is supposed to get you the best of both tube sizes.
I suggest you use the mid pipe that matches the headers.

That's a good question and Ltngdrvr hit the nail on the head here! I would personally recommend shooting for an X-Pipe It's a great idea to purchase the same brand SHORTY Mid Pipe to ensure that you're getting the best performance as well as not running into any fitment issues. I've run BBK Long Tubes on every Mustang since I had my license and never had any issues aside from bottoming out every now and then! Let me know if you have any questions!
