Ford Racing Boss 302R Intake Manifold - AmericanMuscle Pre-Order
#41
My thought is that it's good FRPP is releasing an intake manifold for the 5.0L - hopefully this will stimulate the aftermarket to create better designs for higher HP applications (as, to my knowledge, there aren't any on the market currently)
#42
Agreed. There's nothing else on the market right now. However, if Ford does as well with this design as they did with the 3v manifold, there probably won't be much room for competition. Other than something crazy like a JPC fabricated manifold for the guys going all out.

I'm very curious to see what kind of power this will add to a GT. Since the Boss is only 28HP more for the total package AND parts have to work well together to make the most power, I don't see that much power to be had with this intake for just a CAI & tuned car.
Now for FI or long tubes & cams and such, I can see a worthwhile difference. I do hope I'm wrong and time will tell.
I am thankful for the guys that are getting in on it right away and can report back to us more "financially challenged" guys.

440 - 412 = 28

Where are you getting the 32HP number from? My interwebz and South Georgia math smarts tell me the number is 28.

The Boss is rated at 444hp hence the 32hp number...you were right back when the car was rated @400

Now back on topic...I wonder what some nice cams and tuning will do for an otherwise stock boss?
#49
The Boss is also a little under-rated, too. Just for arguments sake.
Nothing on the cluster just yet. From what I understand it's oil pressure, water temperature and a performance meter that hooks up to the OBDII. I think they're saying like $1400.

$1400 Wow, I was thinking it would be around $500-$600. I was way off.

Yeah, it's because the one is a performance meter, and it reads via OBDII, so you can monitor wideband air/fuel ratio. Don't quote me, that's just what I'm being told. Makes perfect sense, though, since you can datalog wideband AFR on 2011's.

Dyno results will be up a little later this week. While this manifold does lose a little bit of low-mid range power on a naturally aspirated car, it gains as much as 58RWHP from 7000 and up! It smooths out the whole powerband, and when used with nitrous (like we did) it's a huge increase! We have plenty of before/after testing - as well as some track footage to share with you.
Let's start off with the JLT intake, which fits perfectly... like it was made for it. We tested the Airaid intake, which also fits, but you have to trim a half inch off of each side of the coupler to the throttle body. The C&L intake fits. The Steeda works with the 2010 steeda elbow. We decided to use the JLT plastic intake for all of our testing because it seems to fit the best and we loved the horsepower/torque results!
So anyway...
We went to the track again today with our 2011 Automatic GT with the NEW JLT plastic cold air intake and Boss Intake manifold... and here's how we did. Beautiful day, about 50 degrees, partly cloudy... track was prepped really ****ty, but it is what it is...
11.64 @ 117.75 MPH with 4.10 gears, off-road x-pipe, Boss manifold, L&M throttle body, JLT plastic CAI and Bama 93 Race tune, stock trans, stock manifold, stock converter, mickey thompsons with racestar industries wheels
10.43 @ 130 MPH with all of the same mods as above plus 150 shot from an NX wet kit, nozzle.

Was this done with l&m tb, headers, off road x etc? Or stock with only boss man and jlt plastic intake?

Peak torque loss was about 17 I believe, and horsepower was a little less. Maybe because they were testing with long tubes?
