Thanks for the info, I have a Pro Cal Tune for my 20313 Mustang GT, but have not installed it yet, As yourself, I live in CA, and work in the Sacramento Area (Rancho Cordova), I was curious if you had to set your tune to 91 octane, or will a 93 octane setting work with out damaging (engine Ping) the engine. Any information will be appreciated.

Yes, you want a 91 tune for our crap gas here. Honestly though, I'd head over to AED and get a dyno tune. You'll get the most out of your car and you're local.

Thanks for the info LaserRed38, I'll likely perform the install this week, and see how the tune works, is AED located in the Bay Area by any chance, I live in Hercules, CA, and try not to drive my Mustang to Sacramento unless necessary, I use a 4cyl 97 Camry to handle that chore

I run my car on the 93 octain tune with no problems!
But every car is different!

Thanks for the info James, I'll give the 93 Octane setting a try, if any problems, set it it the 91 Octane

So in regard to seat-of-the-pants feel, it's not worth it? For me that's all that matters, considering I don't plan to take mine to the track anymore. I had my fun running 12.9 and don't see any point in doing it again. Too much wear on the car, and it's just a waste of expensive tires lol

I honestly think it takes at least a 10% power gain on any car to feel a difference so on this car that would mean 40+ hp gain,
No tune alone will give you that!
(Safely) on this car!
Just my opinion but I have been modifying car for over 20 years!
I think for most people it is the placebo effect!
(I spent this money it must be faster)
That's why I like drag strip results! (Simple faster or not faster!)
And I'm not a drag racer, just like to go out there when I change something!

Side note!
By changing my suspension I dropped another .2 sec.
So I have a best ET of
12.5 sec!
Not bad on street tires, and no power shifting!

I've had the procal for awhile now. In FL we get 93. But it's is ultra crappy so even with bobs oil separator, I still had pinging. So after talking to Mike at ford racing, I actually turned my fuel adjust on, or to Y. I noticed some power loss initially along with the elimination of the ping. But after I put in a fresh tank of chevron (continue to use now) the power came back but the ping did not.

I concluded with my experience and the info from Mike that IMO the setting should default as Y. The factory tune auto adjusts af per cylinder based on octane. But for some reason ford racing turns it off by default.

Confirmed with Mike, the setting being on with good quality 93 will run exactly the same as with the setting off (with good fuel). But if you happen to get a bad tank, you won't ping everywhere. It'll just kill some power until the next tank.

If it doesn't make the car FEEL faster, I won't be getting this tune. I'll just keep saving up for that Department of Boost kit (which actually won't take that long) and then install that after my warranty is up.

If you are comparing the seat of the pants feel from adding a tune compared to adding a supercharger, YES there is a big difference.

Before I joined the darkside, I had the Steeda CAI and tune and it felt faster. Of course when I went forced induction, there was no real comparison. My wife's first words when she rode in it with the supercharger were "holy ****!!!"
