Which clutch do I want/need?

Car is a '13 5.0 pushing 10psi via a 2.3L Whipple, 3.73 Torsen out back.

I'm looking at the McLeod RST or the RXT, but the RXT seems like overkill, at least for now.

I'd like to keep the stock flywheel, if only for the lack of the added expense.

How good is the RST with the stock flywheel?

Does any of the driveline clunking go away with an aftermarket clutch?

And what else would I need to buy, to swap out the clutch?

Thanks guys.

Driveline clunking?
Sounds like you have a drive shaft issue.

I have the identical setup and I'm also wondering what clutch will suit me best. Doesn't look like any advice will be found here....

How much HP are you making with the whipple? How much that cost?

Gabe, clutch fluid and line is key.

RST should, in all theory, be fine. I've heard stories of guys destroying their RST clutches at your power levels in a short period of time but something tells me they were either at the drag strip every weekend or they need to practice driving a manual.

Slave cylinder and throwout bearing as well. Hope this helps.

I had a Spec 3+ on mine that did very well. Like others have said, the fluid and lines along with the slave/TOB just kinda suck. I would look into upgrading those.

Well, gonna need to do something very soon.

Did 12 Autocross runs today and the last couple of runs provided me with some nice burnt-brake/clutch-fluid smell at the end.

So, while the autocross itself was a blast (videos will be up later tonight or tomorrow ), it certainly told me that my car needs something else VERY soon.

How'd the Whipple handle with that many runs?

very well, no issues other than the clutch smell or whatever that smell was.

Plus, I need better front tires next time.

Which brake fluid do I want?

Looking at the Amsoil Dot 3 or Dot 4, but the Dot 4 says to be replaced every 2 years

Some of the guys on here (including myself) use Motul RBF600. Raises dry boiling point to ~593 deg F. It's full synthetic DOT 4. I haven't heard anyone having issues with it yet. I do track weekends at road courses.

Thanks, just checked into it, and I found that it should be replaced once a year though ... the Amsoil says every 2 years, and it has a boiling point of 580, close enough for me ... just ordered 3 bottles of Amsoil Dot 4.

Also gonna look into the stainless steel brake lines ... replacing those should certainly make flushing the brake fluid EASY, lol

I had to replace the Motul every 3 months, depending on track days of competitiveness after a weekend.

Good stuff though

Wow, that's quick. Their instructions tell you to bleed with fresh fluid before every race for best results though. I plan on keeping mine in there for at least a year. I did my first track weekend on stock brake fluid with 4000 miles on the car with no change in pedal feel (but solid pads). But now that the fluid was a year old I replaced it with Motul.

Do you have any experiences with other fluids?

Go with the RXT. The RST simply is not made for any drag use. You can smoke it in a heartbeat. For the few extra hundred $$ the RXT is as stout as it gets, all while giving you great driveability. That's why I went with the RXT in my 1966.
