You mean the weather stripping that's supposed to serve as the "seal" that meets up to the hood, to prevent hot engine compartment air from entering the box?

From the install video from AirRaid, it looked pretty simple. And if not, I would think I could install the stripping on the box BEFORE I install it into the engine compartment?

Do you have a tune? If you do, then you don't need it. If you have the stock tune, then you should..... from what I understand, the airflow is too fast for the stock tune and could cause issues. The venturi tube slows down the air.

I suggest calling AirRaid to get it sent to you, or you could just get a Bama Tune.

I have had it tuned since the day I received the combo. Though, I have reverted to stock a few times and driven it. Didn't see much change or feel a difference from the cai. Atf ratio was normal.

Just read your thread. I just started thread about this. I have had engine light and misfire problems 3 times before on my 2013 5.0 like others on here and since the last time it seems it has been Ok. Installed Airaid CAI without tune and yesturday my engine light came on again. Went back to dealer this morning, left car and about 3 hrs later they called me that they reset the computer again. They said that the engine was running too lean and causing misfiring and that it was fluctuating do to the valve in the Airaid tube being loose because it is only held on by a grommet and could cause engine light to come back on again if I leave the Airaid CAI on. They ask me to bring stock CAI back so they could put it back on and retest, after they put stock one on everything checked out and was no longer running lean. Man I loved that Airaid CAI great sound, but apparently is causing problems.

Well that is not good to hear sounds like this issue is caused by a loose valve?????? Was it not installed correctly by you? Or is it a design flaw?

Now I am concerned

Anyone else seeing this issue?

My C&L no tune intake works great, no issues so far, and it was much cheaper direct.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my Airaid and sound, but it may just be the newer mustangs. 2013 seems to have a lot a problems with engine lights coming on ( see "misfire" thread ) and these CAI's inhance these problems. the Airaid has a rubber grommet that you fit into the hole in the Airaid tube, then the valve is pushed into this grommet so you can actually move the valve around stock intake valve is stationary, and apparently what the mechanic is telling me that when this valve is under pressure it will cause fluctuations that cause it to run too lean which will also cause engine light to come on during there test.

Yes, it's the weather stripping. Install the weatherstripping before you install the unit on your car for sure. The video does make it look easy, but it gave me fits, especially around the bends...

Which valve is it? I think you mean the maf sensor? You essentially reuse the oem maf sensor in the new airraid intake tube. Was it perhaps just not installed well?

I will be sure to do that.

I answered your other thread, but I believe you are referring to the auto trans valve that us manual trans owners don't have to deal with.

Ah... I do recall reading something about that. So help me understand this: I assume there is only one type of airraid CAI you can buy right? So it satisfies both auto and manual trans cars? If so, what is to be done about a valve that's in one but not the other??? Is there a hole that has to be plugged?

No I do not have a Automatic I have a 6 spd. I do not know what the name of the valve is called but it's the one right next to that Auto valve.

I will watch the install video on YouTube again. I don't recall any other valve or sensor other than the MAF sensor.

If anyone else has insight on this, please chime in.

I remember doing mine and there was an assortment of rubber/plastic plugs. It seemed straightforward to me, but maybe an incorrect or ill fitting plug may be to blame? A picture of your unit might help too. The top hole needed a plug and the bottom one a grommet with the silver valve for the PCV connection IIRC. I'd contact Airaid and see what they have to say.

This sounds right. The 5/8 opening is used on both auto and manual, and the 3/8 one is used on the auto only. Just plug up the 3/8 one. So it sounds like he is having issues with the fit of the 5/8 valve??? Just needs to be tight?

Just answered your new thread, Grommet and valve were installed correctly it will wiggle and cause fluctuations under pressure. I have had CEL problems with my 2013 4 times now. If you have not had CEL problems you may be OK. I returned my Airaid to American Muscle and ordered the Rousch CAI and hope that will work.
