Borla catback plus CAI = any possible issues?

I have an Airraid cold air intake coming in friday that I plan to install, and it will compliment my borla catback already on the car. Everything else related is stock (no tune).

My question is more of a concern, I guess. Should I be worried of any chance that the Check Engine Light (CEL) might come on due the engine running lean or for some other reason? I do NOT have an aftermarket tune...all stock.

Any other potential issue you guys foresee with my set up? Who here is running similar mods to mine? If so, any issues?

Thanks in advance folks.

My Airraid came with an insert for what I was told is for non-tuned cars, my tuner had me remove it since I had a tune.

Might want to email Airraid and check. Also if it doesn't come with the cover for the filter to protect it from water, I would ask them about it. They sent the kit for free to me.

Yeah, I am getting it used from someone on this forum... so that venturi insert should come with. Not sure with the filter cover. I can ask. Luckily, I don't drive her in rain anyways.

As to my original question, I am NOT running a tune, nor do I plan to in the "immediate" future (someday soon, maybe). So I just wanted to make sure that a full catback and a CAI is still "ok" to run with no harm to the engine, etc and no CEL.

You should be fine. I no people that run the airaid intake with the Venturi insert bc they don't have a tune and it runs fine. It's said to net you about 8rwhp but there's been MILLIONS of debates about this so I wouldn't expect anything other then sound and looks!

Personally I think it is foolish to run a CAI and no tune.

I'm running the Airaid CAI and did my own catback with the Pypes X pipe and 3" tubing welded in deleting the resonators with the stock over axle pipes and GT500 mufflers. No CEL codes or any issues surfaced and I've been running that combo for over 10k miles with the stock tune. I'll be doing a tune some time soon as my next mod since I just put on rims and tires and no longer have serious traction loss with the stock PZero Nero's.

you may tear a fabric in the space-time continuum if you tune it. be careful.

The filter cover is only needed on '13+ since they have hood vents, and water can get through there.

W/o tune you must have the insert in place. The only benefits will be sound and looks.

This is great information, thank you. It's good to know that I can run this with no worries or concerns.

I see. So then for a 2012, I have nothing to worry about. Not that I drive it in the rain in the first place.

I know, I was too. However some other priorities came up in life so I had to delay the order. I was literally about to push click submit in order, but I had to change plans. Hopefully I can get back into forced induction at the end of this year or possibly next year.

Go for it man, you won't have any issues. It'll sound good too. I wish steeda made an insert as I plan to tune in a few months.

If you buy the airaid cai/tuner combo does it not come with the insert? I don't recall getting it or having to remove it when I bought it months ago.

Hmm interesting that you bring that up. Now that I think about it it probably wouldn't come with the insert being that they are assuming you are going to tune when you put the airaid cai on thus not needing the insert at all. However, if you want to try to pull a fast one on the dealer and reflash back to stock and still want to run the cai without a tune it would seem like you wouldnt be able to do this. This is me just thinking outloud and is just assumptions being that i never purchased the cai/tuner combo.

Yes, it comes with the insert and I believe mine was already in the tube. I seen it when I aligned the hole for the MAF sensor to go back in. I purchased the CAI and Tuner at the same time.

Yeah thanks guys. I'm stoked. It arrives tomorrow. I checked the install guides online, and it sounds pretty trivial. Remove stock box and tube, install new box and tube

The Airaid install was very easy, except for the rubber seal around the top of the box. That was a major PITA! I think that's why a lot of the product pics on AM's site don't have it installed.

I detached my cone filter to check if I had the venturi tube and didn't realize and I don't. Don't recall seeing it in the box either.
