average dealer cost for gear install?

My local mustang shop want almost a 1000 for everything. This seem a little excessive. How much does dealers usually charge for gear install? Thanks in advance.

Steeda currently has a gear special for $499 for comparison, as you're not located close to either of their shops (Valdosta, GA or Pompano, FL).

WOW!! and that's installed with parts? I can go cheaper at other places locally but just not too confident in trusting the cheaper shop. It would suck to find out my gear whine. Then my local mustang specialty shop want almost a grand installed. I believe I heard from another forum that a dealer usually charge about 800 and you get warranty with it plus no need to purchase a tuner just to recalibrate the speedo since the dealer will do that. I am not ready for a tuner yet as I am still learning as much as I can about this coyote motor before I start that process. Plenty of power for now but I can't stand the low rpm lack of torque especially coming from 11 camaro. I know gear will fix that without getting into tuning just yet.

500 is a normal price for parts and labor. My dealer wanted 1,000 as well for a gear swap.

I paid around $600 total to have my dealer install 4.10's in my '07 GT.

****, $1000 is absolutely insane... Buy the gears yourself and take them to a good local shop. With such a new car you shouldn't need to worry about a rebuild kit. Labor and fluids should not run you more than $250 or so.

Yeah, that sounds like a 'go away' kind of price.

I hear around NYC expect to pay $500-600.

Well... I just talk to my local dealer that support FRPP. Talk to the service manager and he want 600 just for install and said it could be more depending what else I need once they open the differential. Still, better than my local mustang shop that wanted almost 1k! I get warranty with the install so that price is easier to live with. At least is not 700 just for the gear when I had my camaro.
