Anyone running UPR Oil Separator/Catch can?
UPR claims their cans are a three chamber design but I never took mine apart to see if it is. It looks like there is no separation between the two ports, just the SS mesh packed in the top. The BT cans look like a good design.
I'm looking forward to the pictures of the Bob's installation.

Well, Last week I ordered the Bob's oil separator because I liked the design and decided to see how it worked compared to my UPR one. When I had replaced the lines on my UPR separator a few weeks ago, I had noticed a little oil in the line going to the intake so I figured some oil was getting past the SS filter.
The UPR separator seemed to work very well in the amount of oil it was catching so I was happy about that. Today I received the Bob's oil separator and installed it. Here are some pictures of Bob's installed on my car. I like that it sits higher up than the UPR one as the UPR one hung down low enough to touch the edge of the coil cover.
I had right at 1 1/2 tsp of oil in the UPR can with about 554 miles of driving.

I also looked closer at the UPR can design and it is like BT's in that the top part is separated into two sides so it is not a straight through design. I guess the reason the oil is getting into the return line is that the oil is dripping onto the round perforated disc that most catch cans I've seen use and getting sucked back up into the SS mesh on the out take side and some oil is making it's way through the mesh.
On the UPR can, the metal that separates the two sides of the connectors does not go all of the way down to the round perforated disc so the oil can actually sit on this disc and flow over to the part of the disc that covers the out take side. On the UPR can, this disc is kept in place by a rubber O-ring vs the two screws on the BT can. The metal appears to go all the way down to the disc on the BT can which I would assume would make it harder for oil to travel over to the out take side of the disc.
I wish I would have taken pictures of the insides of both cans but I forgot.
I don't know why when I post my pictures, they appear so large. Can anyone tell me how to prevent this. To look at them half way normal on my screen, I have to zoom out the screen to about 50% but then the words of the post are tiny.

Buyer Beware
So I called UPR last week and said I wanted to return the catch can. They offered me a full refund. I was happy with that. Fast forward to this week, they docked me a 20% restocking fee! I was not happy. I had to go back and forth the sales manager on the phone to get a full refund. He said "I really shouldn't be doing this, but I'll refund you the 20% restocking fee." Ridiculous!!!
I'll never do business with this company again!!! I'm just happy I got my money back.

That is crazy. Why would they charge you a restocking fee for a product that was used, came with the wrong size connectors, and was missing parts? Makes no sense.
I've had good luck with them and they were very helpful when I was trying to order some additional parts for my cans. Too bad your experience wasn't very good.
How do you like your Bob's can? Did you ever post any pictures of your install?

For the bobs catch can install. I used the following:
3/8" Socket Wrench
8mm Socket
13mm Socket
Flat Head Screw Driver
Razor Blade
Install is simple. You just remove the strut bar using the 13mm socket. There will be 6 nuts total. After that you remove the ground wire with the 8mm socket and then flatten out the tab on the ground wire. Then install the bobs catch can using the supplied bolt. Once that is done, I popped off the engine cover just by firmly pulling straight up. Remove the stock PCV line and then using the razor blade you cut off the fittings from the PCV line.
The bobs separator comes with one long hose that you will cut to size. This is probably the hardest part. I recommend doing the shorter hose first. After that you just put the worm clamps on and tighten them to the OEM connectors and the bobs catch can. Reinstall the engine cover and strut bare and that's it! Super easy install. Everything is very accessible and the tools needed are fairly common. Install difficulty: 2/10.

Yikes my engine bay is dirty.
The quality of the can is amazing! My biggest gripe would have to be that I can't open up the catch can! A gorilla/godzilla must have tightened these things!
Nice installation directions. I only had to remove 4 nuts for my strut tower brace and I found that I didn't have to bend the tab on the ground wire as it just hung over the edge of the catch can bracket. I also installed the short hose first. My can was put together pretty tight but I was able to open it.
I didn't cut my factory PCV valve pipe up to get the connectors. I just bought some new replacements from Ford so that I could just put on the stock setup if I needed to for some reason.
I do agree that the Bob's can is a quality one but I was happy with the quality of the UPR can as well. Bob's does come with the hose clamps and the drain valve which are some things that the UPR can did not come with. I did buy a drain valve from UPR for my UPR can as well as the brass fittings that mine did not come with originally so I have a little bit of money invested in it. The UPR can is a little bigger than the Bob's one and will hold more oil. I like how the Bob's can sits up higher than the UPR can making it easier to drain.
I was just disappointed that the UPR can was letting oil through to the output side. I even had oil where the hose went into the connector at the intake. Hopefully only a very small amount got through overall. I put the can on the car when it only had 676 miles on it and changed it out for the Bob's one at 3,654 miles. So now I get to see how efficient the Bob's can is.
My fiancée's 2007 Mustang GT has an UPR can on it which was installed shortly after I installed mine. I'll be keeping an eye on hers to see if any oil gets through it. It was built slightly different than the can for my 2014 car but I'm not sure about the top part. It is probably the same as mine is.
