#8 misfire?

Just a quick question for yal, I wanted to do the basic bolt ons such as headers, intake, boss manifold that sort of thing but the only thing that sways me is the misfire issue. Does it happen more when these mods are done or is it only more apparent in high horsepower applications such as forced induction. If it is something I should address what can I do for preventative measures? Would an oil cooler help or a better radiator? Just curious because I wouldn't want to dive into a bunch of mods then later run into this issue.

its heat in the cylinder and ring butting. making more power and keeping combustion temps down is key, as well at tuning. i run e85 so i dont have to worry.

What does e85 do to make you not have to worry? I don't follow because I'm stupid lol

E85 is a much higher octane, and burns way cooler.

OP, what misfire issue are you talking about.

Edit: I see in the title you are referring to the #8 issue. It was proven a long time ago that the issue is in the factory tune, every big name tuner is aware of the issue and will fix it in the aftermarket tune.

Specifically 2011/2012 I think? The 2013/2014 I haven't seen much posting for misfires. I know my buddy with a 2012 Boss LS got a reflash at the dealership and his misfires went away.

All the more reason I decided on a 2014 - I always like the last year before model overhaul

actually my 13 had the check engine light flash about 5 times and it only has 13000 miles. Took it to ford but they couldn't find nothing wrong so that leaves me to believe its the ghost misfire because never once did the motor act differently when it happened. If a tune will help then ill jump on it but my only question is what is the best tune with the most gains who have a good track record of not having motors go out.

thats what I'm saying that I'm not getting any misfires because car does not act any different when the check engine light would flash. I know it is common problem for for some to have the light flash when an actuality there is nothing wrong so when this happens it is referred to a ghost misfire. Whenever I took it to ford they could not even find any misfiring issues with it. If the tunes are good then ill go for it because I got a major itch to mod this motor lol.

Check out the MMR head cooling mod, essentially the same as the head cooling mod for the old 4.6's

I was checking out the cooling mod but from what I see u have to take the motor out because the rear freeze plugs have to be tapped as the source. I don't know if I'm right though.

On SVTP one of the guys from MMR was promoting it and said that you don't have to take the motor out, probably can loosen the motor mounts and tip the motor a tad to get to them. You do have to remove the intake though to do this.

how about just getting the oil cooling kit instead? Would that show some significant drop in temps?

I would check with someone on that, I don't think that would help your cylinder temps.
