I am getting to buy a 2011 5.0 with 5000 miles from a dealer here in town it has kooks headers on it and they are taken it to get it tuned because it keeps trowing a check eng light. I wanted to know if i should have it in writing that the headers where done before i bought it from them. Just to cover my *** down the road if i have to have any work done to it.

 

yes. absolutley get it in writing. and also, if possible get dated pictures taken. that way if theres a problem down the road then youll have proof showing they were installed before you purchased the car.

 

Have them removed immediately. Then send them to me. I will gladly forward my address and pay for 1/2 of shipping. Because....I care!

In seriousness I would have your dealer put it in writing that they will still honor your warranty with the modifications currently on your car. Also have them straighten out your check eng issue. If warranty is a concern cover your ****!

 

that is what i tought. now just got to get a cold air and axle back just dont know what ones to get. It would be nice to make around 425 rwhp

 

Make sure they acknowledge in writing the warranty isn't voided.

 

If you're going to add cai and tune then the warranty is theoretically voided anyway. But, sounds like a nice car for a good price assuming it's nicely equipped.

I'd get the warranty in writing noting the headers already installed. Then I'd take it and get a professional dyno tune as soon as the cold air was installed.

 

Did they not use a tuner on it to remove the check engine light?
