FR hot rod cams vs FR intake manifold

My next mod is either going to be the ford racing hot rod cams or the ford racing intake manifold. They are roughly the same price. wondering which would be more worth the $$ performance wise. I already have long tube headers and i hear the cams work well with them. Thanks for the input!

Both are a waste of money. Spend only slightly more and double your hp.

Boost

he's talking spending maybe a grand total and your talking spending 3500 + thats not slightly more.

Someone in the for sale section was selling one of those intake about a month ago. I don't know if he ever sold it, you might want to check there.

I think going with the cams you will be happier.

appreciate it , ya i was thinking below $1000 and both are right around $700. Boost would be optimal but def atleast triple the price. I have every bolt on except the intake manifold but the cams are looking were it might be at. anyone have either of these on there cars and if so noticable hp gains?

That was me selling the manifold & throttle body, & I did sell them. I did cams 1st, although I did Brenspeed's Detroit Rockers vice the Hot Rods. Cams are advertised to give around 30 hp gain, & I definitely felt a gain from mine. The manifold/tb I did mainly for looks, although the car seemed to pull better in the upper rpm range with them. From what I've read the manifold/tb really work better with FI, like a Vortech, Paxton, or a turbo setup. The guy who is buying mine is going turbo.

Cams and headers you'll be lucky to see 30rwhp. And headers and cams are both harder to put on than the DOB kit. With the DOB kit you see a 225rwhp gain. If you can't afford that don't throw your money away wait. One nice thing about the DOB kit you don't have to buy it all at once or finance it as you can buy a piece at a time.

I don't think your going to see any crazy gain with cams. But if it were me I'd get and over an intake. Nothing like sitting in traffic camming like hell! Lol

Since you already have the LT's then I would go ahead with the cams. Not only are you going to gain HP mainly in the 4000up rpm range but you will also get a great idle sound that will be just about as fun to listen to.

The manifold can come later if you choose and wont be such a noticeable gain. The only issue I see is the cam installation will be more then the Manifold install but if you use someone who knows how to install them without removing the timing cover, as described in the FRPP install manual, then it wont be that bad. If they say they have to remove the cover then go elsewhere.

Thanks, Doug

I have 3:73. I do more than the average interstate driving so would like to try and avoid 4:10 if possible. The lower end loss that much?
