In the 60's and 70's there were options to order stripped models with the bigger engines though. Really wish we had that option now.
Did I say that? If so I don't see where I said that. Looks like that post disappeared.

Lol. You said the new ones look a lot more like the original front end. The rest of it was me.

Apparently discussions about the actual cars themselves are not allowed in build threads.

Grill swap is done. Didn't have to pull the bumper. I pulled the front engine bay cover to see how the grills connected to the bumper. Pretty easy swap; only took about 45 minutes. All I have to do is heat up the glue on the emblem & get it on the new grill.

If that is directed at the posts I deleted I apologize, and PM me if so. If not . . . I don't care.

Oh snap. That's what happens on a cloudy day in Chicago. I'll get some more pictures tomorrow during our fall cruise.

Regarding the questions about the airflow restrictions on the 2012 grills:
The convertible is electronically limited to 150 mph. We bought this car to cruise around in, not take it to the track. For cruising around <70 mph in the Chicago climate, we shouldn't need any extra cooling.

I took pictures to show that the opening sizes of the 2012 & 2013 grills are very similar. We don't have the performance pack so there are no extra oil coolers or such on either side of the lower grill opening. Look at the pictures below to see how similar in size the openings are. The biggest advantage is that the radiators are much more protected from rocks or debris getting in and damaging them. Plus, I like the looks of the 2012 much better!

UPPER GRILLS: 2013 on top, 2012 on bottom.

LOWER GRILLS: 2013 on top, 2012 on bottom. Even though the ends are both open in the 2013 grill, there are plastic panels behind that area on our car since there are no additional oil coolers. Again, the actual usable opening size of the two grills is quite similar.

Why didn't you buy a '12 vert, could have saved $15K, have the same HP and the grill you like better.
