I just heard Kona blue is a victim of the Japan earthquake and is being replaced with Sonic blue. I checked with my dealer to see if I should buy some spare paint and they seem to feel it won't be a problem as far as accident repairs or custom painting goes.

 

uh..... not!! Sonic and Sterling are being ADDED, not REPLACING. Only color prob is the Candy, a new name, a new code, and an adm $$ to get it.

 

That's not what has been reported from numerous sources. It's the metallic pigments in the various colors that are affected. All made in Japan.

 

I have dial up and it is very slow in all this rain due to the VERY old telephone lines being wet, again. Could I ask you to link some of those sources? I have a Kona Blue on order.

Me believes your sources are rumor mills. The factory in Japan that was affected IS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. Though granted not at full capacity. KONA has NOT been replaced. PERIOD. Yes there is a SHORTAGE. Thus the addition of another Blue, SONIC.

 

Did you really just equate a paint color to human beings in Japan? W T F !!!

 

I just searched for where I saw it and of course can't find it right now. I know John at Ray Skillman Ford confirmed it in a post on The FNsweet site but I'd say the best way is just to ask your local dealer. I asked mine as I said above and they said it was true but replacement paint would still be available. I hope it is still offered as it's a great color.

 

my dealer told me that Lava Red is the only color you can't get anymore bc of the earthquake

 

Your dealer is misinformed. User FiveOhBrian is a ford employee and reported in a thread in the main forum that lava red is exhausted and kona will be within a week or two.
