I am pretty sure there would have been trademark rights to the font and style of his original #8 and the new #88

for font?...thats

anyway...I dont like it....the whole thing doesnt seem to fit him...Maybe the Mt. Dew....but thats about it. I dont the like paint job on either car...I could've made those schemes on NASCAR 07..they are so blah......I'm not even a Jr. Fan.....I guess this stuff fits him like Budwiser fits Kasey Kahne..

I expected a lot better paint job for a Mountain Dew car. Those are both ugly paint schemes. I thought they would be some of the coolest in NASCAR.

Robert Yates actually allowed them to use #88?

Well, not exactly. BUT, Yates & Hendricks did strike a financial settlement, with NASCAR's blessing, and they then released the number back to NASCAR which enabled it to be aquired by Hendricks. The deal had been in the works since the beginning, well June anyway, and highly secretative. Thus allowing Yates to now have the number's 28 & 38. A lot of false rumors were even started by HMS toward other possibilites, just to steer the notice away from the ongoing plans. This brings the 88 back to its heirtage. Jr's grandfather raced it, DW raced it, and it has been in Victory lane many a times. It's a great fit for the franchise of Junior Nation. Plus the tattoo artist's job will be a lot easier now also.

28 is a SACRED, HALLOWED number. They better get someone GREAT to drive that thing and it better be in victory lane rapidly.

I don't see any Yates driver getting to victory lane rapidly. That team has gone downhill since he decided to partner with Roush. He gave Roush what he needed and got screwed.

They're also better placed now. Roush basically robbed them for the engine program, but now Ole Jack needs someone to do more testing for him (to face Chevy's massive testing machine), and to take one of his cars off his hands before NASCAR gives it to Toyota or something. So now its his interest to share his chassis info with Yates and bootstrap them up,
and basically make them an extension of his team.
