12 Hours of Sebring

Its that time of year again. Sebring Time!!! I've gone for the last two years and loved it. There is nothing like being completely deafened by a huge pack of Porsche 911 GT3's. I brought an overhead tent last year and lots of food and Gatorade. It was so windy last year that I saw one canopy style tent (like mine), shoooot into the air about a 100 feet and start divebombing right at the track!!! It took a last minute turn and hit some people sitting on top of there RV!!!!!!!!

The big race is on March 17th and starts at 10:30, I believe. I normally camp out on Gurney Bend. Tickets are 80$ and parkings 10$. If you like real race cars(not Toyota Camry's or Ford Fusion's LOL), racing on a track with left and right turns, then this is your gig. Its always a lot of fun.

I'll try to take some pictures in the pits. Before the race they open pit for everyone!!!! Its freaking sweet. They pull the cars out before the race and they drive right in front of you. I almost had my foot ran over by a 911 GT3 last year.

LMP2 and GT2 should be pretty good this year, but P1 and GT1 are looking a little thin.

Yeah...the American Lemans Series board of dumbums continue to make some stupid decisions, like almost scaring Audi off..... Audi is still pretty PO'd.....

Where will you be setting up this year? I will be there Thurs, Fri, and Sat. Ive got pit box tickets. Its my first time going an I am very excited. (FYI: Rain forecasted all those days. Should make for an interesting race.)

And yes P1 and GT1 will be light this year. Too bad the Peugot 908 will only be competing in Europe right now. It would have been a good race against the Audi. And only one AM racing in GT1.

I camp out on Gurney Bend, there are a bunch of hillish mounds that provide an excellent view... The cars fly by at triple digits!!! I also have the four day tickets, I might attend Thursday.

Heres the map

Sebring was freakin awesome ...... I had lotsa fun. It ended up being a absolutely perfect day. We stayed from 8:45 to 7:45 then went home and watched the rest. Did anyone catch the Rissi Ferrari 430GT vs. Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RS......... it was some of the most intense racing I've ever seen.. What a nailbiter!!!I was pullin for the Ferrari the whole race. The #62 Ferrari is my favorite this year.

If anybody TIVO'd it I would love to have a copy...

By the way:
FORD IS IDIOTIC FOR NOT RUNNING THE GT...There was no Ford representation....GM dominated. There is only 3 cars in GT1!!! 2 Corvette C6R's and a Aston Martin=RETARDED....

Great finish in GT2, and pretty predictable in LMP1 and GT1. I was a little surprised that the Penskes weren't more reliable. I expected the Acuras to be outgunned.

I was there and it was fantastic. Got to see the great finish in GT2 (and the little love tap into pit lane that the porsche gave the ferrari) I'll have to post some pics soon. Already decided that I am going next year and this year im going to try and make it to a few others (Road America, Road Atlanta and Mid-Ohio maybe)
