Supercharger Boost Restriction on New GT500

I now have 700 miles on my 2010 GT500 and finally decided to see what it would do. When I hit the gas, the supercharger boost never goes past 6 psi, regardless of rpms. I even hit the redline once and boost never went over 6. I read on another forum that the supercharger won't achieve full boost until 500 miles or 50 key starts. I'm over 500 miles, but I may not have 50 key starts yet.

Does anyone know what the real answer is here? I should be getting much better boost from the SC, up to 15 psi, right?

I don't know about 500 miles, I thought it was much less than that. However the max boost you should be seeing is 9 psi.

Agreed...

also, sometimes the boost gage may not be working properly/defective

Elevation might be playing a factor. What elevation are you currently driving the car at?

Than sit in the car and spend some times starting and stopping the engine !!

That would be the cheapest way to increase HP I ever heard !!

It is governed to no boost with this feature so this would not be in play. It doesn't have the MYKey program right?

Respectfully,

Roger

That will definately have a effect on the boost level. Try disconnecting the battery for a minute. That removes the 50 start 500 mile junk.

That sounds right, Colorado cars are seeing those boost leves as well.

Respectfully,

This. With cars at sea level at 9 psi, 6 psi is right about where you should be due to the PSI dropping with altitude.

Guess you'll have to get a tune and pulley to make up for the horsepower altitude is stealing from you and then some

Well, the good thing is I'm on active duty so I'll only be up here another year or so. Even with the psi down somewhat, the car is still bad fast. When I move to a sea level duty assignment, it will seem like I modded the car and picked up extra horsepower just by moving to lower elevation! That will be the cheapest upgrade ever...

I read the manual and found this out. 5 consecutive miles is a far cry from 500 miles. lol

Your Shelby GT500 power train control module (PCM) strategy contains
a feature to limit supercharger boost pressure and engine speed to
4000 rpm for the first five consecutive miles of vehicle operation or 50
engine start/warm up cycles. This feature is enabled prior to shipment. If
neither of these conditions have been satisfied prior to customer
delivery, full power will not be available

I haven't even come close to 9 psi on boost. 5 is about as much as I've seen although I don't run this car very hard.

Holy thread necromancy, batman...

If you're speaking about a '13 GT500, the max boost is 14 PSI, not 9 anymore. If you're only seeing 5lbs, you're just not pushing it hard enough.
