Stopped by local dealer (Nocal)
I stopped by my local dealer to check out a "Got to have it green" GT. Thinking of ordering a GT350 from SAI and wanted to see the color in person, looks much better in sunlight than pictures I've seen. Anyways I also went into the showroom and they had 2 302 Boss's and 1 GT500. All three were marked up 20K, they wanted 67k for the Boss's and 87K for the GT500.
My thoughts about the GT350 is, even if I could find a GT500 for MSRP at 67-70K a GT350 at 75K would be a better deal in the long run. With ultra low production numbers for the GT350, 2011 production numbers were like 189, 2012 and 2013 number are not out yet but would assume they would be about the same or lower. Less than 600 produced, figure in the GTHIG color (only available in 2013) and you are looking a pretty rare car that I would expect to hold it's valve. What are thoughts?

It will not hold value. Most mustang people do not like the looks of the gt350 and that why its a lower run. The current gen has been found to be cheaper then the last. If you are buying this car to drive then you are going to toss any and all value out the window.

Good point, I should have clarified, this will not a be a daily driver car, a weekend sunny day car, low yearly miles. Also looks are subjective and I would say the lower runs are due to the price point and economy more than the looks, at least in my opinion. I appreciate your reply.

Whilst GHIG is pretty stunning, a GT350 needs to be white n blue for me.............and, whilst there may be more produced in that colour, it may hold it's value more because it's the traditional choice

I totally agree about white w/ blue, it was my first choice. But there is something about the GTHIG that keeps me coming back to it. I am drawn to more unique colors, in the pass Porsche cars I have owned, Riviera Blue was one of my favorites. The funny thing is I really don't like grabber blue on mustang's. Thanks for the pics.

Any thought on a Steeda serialized vehicle that will be a great vehicle at a great price?
We have a limited number run of 2013 Q600. The Q600 is our ultimate in power and handling.
Just wanted to give you another option ... just in case you haven't see our serialized vehicles.

Think about the yellow blaze. Its a low run color because not many wanted it. The GT350 has been around for a few years now and the number still havent grown. The black flag or other black jack stangs did not hold value. The Gt500 has only grown in numbers and its a limited run. This is due to high demand and the will of the public.
If that is what you are saying, I would have to disagree. 3800 GT500 have been produces so far for 2013, not including any other years. Would you say that there are 20K GT500 produced since 2007? With the GT350 you have a car that is considered a Shelby, GT500 is not. You get a Shelby CSM number and is registered with the GT350, GT500 you do not. Less than 600 vs 20K alone will hold it's value better. I don't think their limited because of lack of interest, I think their limited because SAI wanted exclusivity, just like all their cars.
I'm not knocking the GT500, I personally like them but I'm looking for something more exclusive, something you will not see on the road everyday. The GT350 might not be liked by everyone, and that's fine but to say it won't hold it's value because of the reasons you mentioned doesn't add up for me, however I do respect your opinion.

Let me make sure I understand your point of view. You think because of the color and because it is not as good looking as the GT500 the 350 would not hold it valve as well as the 500?

The main thing I am saying is that it wont increase in value or hold its value. Look at the failure of the 2007-08 SGT cars. Many of them ended being sold for just over the GT MSRP. Sound like you are in the market for a nice car and I hope you get it. I buy a new car about every year and always toy with the idea of just buying a car and keeping it for 2 or 3 years because of the loss in value. I can never bring myself to do it.

FWIW I agree that the GT350 will be worth much more in the long run than the GT500 will due to the rarity of the car. Having had limited production models before, some with crazy colors, my experience has been that the crazy color models actually sell better when it comes time for you to resell the car. People just get drawn to the color, even if they don't really like it, it's bizzare. I would definitely go with the GTHIG GT350 if you're looking for a car to collect and sell in a few years. I'm sure you could get a killing for it overseas, too.

I personally think the GT350 looks riced out. I don't like it one bit.
Who cares about what they may be worth in 40 years, right now. According to the fear mongers there will be no gas by then to power today Shelbys.
