Yep, can match the '13 HP with just a pulley swap, TB and a tune. I'll keep mine, thanks

What for? There is not that much difference between 3.6 and 4.1 seconds.

I have not seen much attention paid to the announcement that the 2013 GT500 has a carbon fiber driveshaft. That to me is astounding news. State of the art oval track race cars have just recently started to use carbon fiber driveshafts.
I was hoping Ford would install a one piece aluminum driveshaft in the 2013 GT500. However , Ford exceeded my expectations by putting a carbon fiber driveshaft in it. I believe a one piece aluminum driveshaft will knock about 22 pounds of rotating weight off the two piece steel unit. Less rotating weight means more horsepower to the rear wheels. This is a BIG deal ! Way to go FORD.

I'm a bit afraid of that shaft with that much power. A set of slicks bay blow that shaft to pieces.

I should also mention a carbon fiber driveshaft is a big safety feature. If a carbon fiber shaft breaks, it does not come through the floor. It just shreads into a harmless piece of fibers. I do not yet believe the Camaro ZL1 will have a carbon fiber driveshaft. However, they do have optional carbon fiber inserts in the hood, how LAME !

Certainly don't need to add HP for street driving.

I am sure Ford track tested the carbon fiber with slicks on a GT500. Dirt oval track race cars with 900 horespower engines have been using carbon fiber driveshafts for a while with great durability. The shaft will hold up.

I have a CF driveshaft on my Kenne Bell supercharged Cougar. Got rid of drivetrain harmonics and it's awesome at reducing the shock-load to the tires when I launch at the racetrack while bringing the front wheels off the ground on ever launch. Ford knows this.

That's good to know. Glad it should hold up.

it should be noted that while the '11 & '12 GT500s are certainly not chop liver, the '13 GT500 is way more than just an HP bump.

No doubt the '13 GT500 will be worth it Jason, but at the tune of $15K or more one has to think twice to get rid of a '11 or '12.

oh agreed. I won't be trading in my '11 GT for a '13 GT anytime soon either. I'm more referring to somebody who doesn't have a GT500 at all.

Its going to be a tough choice for them to decide between a nice used or still dealer stock '11-'12, or a brand new but more expensive '13...

I could think of worse problems to have

But in all seriousness, I think I will be ready to finally take the plunge for a GT500 around March. Then I will have a serious decision to make. If a 13 can be had with no markup, I think that will be the way to go.

Oh please Cobra, you know you want a 2013! Why would you want a SLOW 11-12 GT500 that the Camaro5 fanboys can bash with the ZL1.... I say all of you 11-12 GT500 owners should trade in your GT500s....perhaps in the northeast

Don't get me wrong the 2013 is amazing but how much more can Ford do to this car? Has the Mustang reached it's apex?
