Since all we have is pure speculation and the conjecture and arguing has already begun, I'll bite. I still think Road and Track's comparison of the 2011 GT500 and 2011 Cadillac CTS-V is germane to the discussion regarding the, for now, theoretical match-up of the 2013 Shelby GT500 vs. Camaro ZL1. Sure, the 4,300 pound CTS-V (just 100 pounds more than the Camaro ZL1) beat the lighter albeit traction-limited GT500 in from-dead-stop acceleration tests, but the Shelby spanked the Cadillac's *** around the track, despite the more-powerful CTS-V's "superior," Nürburgring-developed IRS and "sophisticated" magnetic dampers. My point? Don't count the 2013 Shelby out just because it doesn't have IRS or magnetic dampers as this generation's Mustang has proven over and over again that it can match or exceed some of the world's best vehicles just fine with what's it's sporting now. I have a feeling that, for 2013, the Shelby -- the entire Mustang lineup -- will perform even better.

I'm hoping they offer the performance package with the wider strips as displayed at the LA show. I like them much better than the thinner stripes the 11' and 12's with the SVTPP get.

The same on my side, BUT the good news out of speculation: The 2013 Shelby will be about a 5K increase from the previous version, SVT and SVTPP, for the SVTPP-TP, I assume to be close to 67K with all whistles and bells, and another 2.5K for your VERT, so looks like you are in for the 2013!

Good luck and the waits continues!

The GOOD NEWS! This is the SVTPP (IN THE L.A. Auto show), I believe that the THIN STRIPES are gone for all.

Question

Historically FORD has not drastically increased the price of the GT500 from model year to model year. Why would you expect a 5000 dollar increase on the base 2013 GT500 ? Ford has options for those who want to pay more.

With all of the changes for the 2013 GT500 a 5k increase wouldnt be all that bad.

I expect maybe a $3K increase. 95% of the car is the same.

I wouldn't expect to see any pricing info until after the new year.

I'm ok waiting on the prices, would really just love to see the ordering guide. I've been wanting a s197 since 2005 and I'm fortunate enough to be able to get the gt500 at this point in my life. Want to see and pick the options and start arguing with my local dealer

My guess is most dealers are going to have 5 times the number of buyers as they have allocations. Best to start cozying up to your local dealer soon rather than arguing with him

Pretty good point really, my local dealer has 2 2012 GT500s sitting on the showroom floor with 5k premiums on them. They've been there for four months now so I'm thinking they are pretty comfortable waiting for the buyers. However, I'm more than happy to hop a plane...

Funny, mine has two on the floor that are below MSRP. That said, he's already had several loyal customers ask to buy their 2013 GT500 allocation(s) and he's not sure how many he'll get. He's certain they won't get as many as he already has asking to buy it. They are in the top 100 dealers in the country as well........

Sheesh, I might as well just plan on traveling for this purchase.

Talking

If regular Mustang sales are slow, maybe Ford will pump up their profits by pumping out a larger percent of GT500 Mustangs.
