Glass Roof Pros/Cons?

Does anyone on here have a glass roof on their 2010, and was wondering how they liked it? Also, if there's any pros/cons to having it? I live in Sunny Florida and it would be nice to have it, but I was wondering if it doesn't keep heat out too well, or maybe I'm wrong. I cant seem to find any good interior pics of them on the internet for some reason.

Also, is there a shade or something to pull out to cover it up in case you don't want the light? Also, I was wondering if there's a dome light at the section between the glass and the metal frame of the car in the back part of it? ... a light for the rear passengers at night?

Thanks in advance- Mike

There is a shade, let me bring up some pics for you

You can see the shade is halfway up in the last pic (the last pic shows an '09 not a 2010+)

Wow I didn't realize there was a shade.... If I were to order a new 'stang, it would have the glass roof for sure.

There is a UV coating on the glass which almost eliminates any increase in the amount of heat let in. I was surprised how well it worked. I'd highly recommend the option!

I pulled the shade on a 2010 i took out... It's not a complete blocker like my MKX, light will always come through when the sun is up... I would probably be more inclined to buy it if it opened up - like the Porsche Targa does.. that'd be hot.... But until then, I'll enjoy my coupe with stripes on the roof...

Ya know something, you made a great point Warpdspazm- you mentioned it's not a complete blocker. This kind of bothers me. I owned a Moonroof Buick T-type in the past, and the shade which pulled out, blocked the light completely.

I do also kind of wish they made a completely retractable large moonroof. This would be an awesome feature. Too bad they dont...

I'm on the fence regarding the glass roof... I don't know if the 2k is worth it.

Aside from it getting broken, and having to dish out cash to replace it, can't imagine how much it is,
there probably are no cons.

I would imagine in the event of a severe head on collision if the glass broke and fell on you that probably wouldnt be good. I think im going to get a glass roof in mine though, it looks awsome.

I would imagine it's a form of safety glass that wont shatter like that

I loved my GlassBack roof on my '07 GT/CS! It's the one thing I really miss now that it's sold.

Now the Saleen I would seriously consider, though it seems for one reason or another it dies at the prototype phase.

This is one of my (few, and minor) complaints about the S197 interior. The "dome light" is actually a pair of map lights over the dashboard. These two lights do absolutely nothing for the back seat. If it's dark outside, or you're in a garage/parking deck, the back seat is black as a smoker's lungs. My SN95 had a proper dome light that helped see the back seats.

The Saleen option was rumored to cost over $5k. Would you still consider it?

The roof glass is tempered glass just like the windshield. It is also covered under your insurance just like the windshield according to something I saw posted by someone here who was an insurance agent.

That is correct (in reference to your second statement).

Does anyone know if you lose the over-the-top stripes by opting in for the glass roof?

At least on the GT500, you get the stripes like normal minus the roof... Not sure about the GT's though... I would assume yes??
