I've been thinking about switching out my front speakers, not the subs. Should I go with 6X9s or do a component set? How hard is an amp to hook up? I'd like to run more power to the rears and the subs...

how hard would it be to swap out the front 8" with some componant's?

that would probably sound better than the stock shaker 1000

Ok, seriously...I am thinking about buying an amp because I want to run a little more power to the rears, the doors, and the door subs. What kind of amp would I need? Would I need a 4 channel? A 2 channel? I can figure out the watts but it's been a LONG time since I did one of these.

Go to Modularfords.com in the audio threads... I posted there to find out about my setup and the guys there are very helpful. I dont know that much about stereo setups so I had to ask a lot of Questions over there.

You may need either a 4 channel or 6 channel amp

I'd look into a Kraco 8.1 Channel. If you have the $$ it's the way to go. From what I read... it specs out about the top.

Why do you prefer an 8.1?..... it will start to flux with too many frequencies and you could end up with the voicecoil lathing and causing the copper to melt on the prongs and also not to mention the echo...GOD the echo. I would go with something in the 7s

Read up on it... They address it in a pretty unique way.

I'll go with you on this one... as I am just learning this crap. the 8.1 will most likely work.
